You answered a question about Seroquel from another user and said you gained weight on it. I would like to know if the weight came off after stopping it? I have been on 600mg for over a year now and have gained 50lbs. I took off about 10, but I can not seem to lose the rest. I will see my Dr on the 19th and I was considering asking him to switch me to something else so I could lose weight. Your input would be helpful to me. Thanks in advance.

I took Seroquel for several years, and I definitely noticed as I increased the dose my weight went up, and as I decreased the dose, my weight went down. I went off of it completely a little over a year ago, and went pack to my pre-antipsychotic medication weight within just a few months. Unfortunately, I'm not a doctor, but I don't think you're going to find an antipsychotic where you're not going to gain weight.

My doctor didn't tell me I could gain weight on seroquel and since I was home on disability and taking one antidepressant after the other i didn't suspect it. Now that I've stopped taking it altogether (3 days and counting) he just told me Friday I would begin to see weight drop off. I don't really believe him b/c I'd been taking only 50-25mg the past few months.

I have gained quite a bit of weight since starting it, but not sure if it is due to the Seroquel or other factors. It does make me sleep better, and more, and feel disinclined to do physical activity.
