Keep them absolutely dry until you're ready to use them. Cover with a paper towel instead of plastic.

The secret is keeping them very cold and away from fruits like apples which give off a gas that makes things rot.

squeeze lime juice on them. this may change the flavor but they will last a few days longer. this also works for meat too.
