My sister's boyfriend tried to kill her, and the police found a list of what he was planning to do to her. How many yea rs would this a$$hole get in Ca.?

He can get anywhere from probation (unlikely but possible) to life if the attempt murder is found to have been pre-meditated (which means he would DO 7 years before being eligible for parole, but would be on parole for life and could keep going back to prison again and again and again.) and anything in between.
There might also be a few years tacked on for the kidnapping, depends upon whether its a trial or if it is a plea bargain.
She should call the DA's office Victim/Witness program and they can help keep her informed of what's going on with the case.

Id say..if your thinking of killing or kidnapping someone it is life sentence but if you are the victim id say check with your judicial system its diff in every state.
