When people say "there is no God ", do they mean there is no God for them now, or there is no God for them forever ?
I do not want to be involved in mudslinging, i am genuinly asking out of being unsure of their statement.
Anybodies genuine polite opinion will be appreciated.
Regards.

Depends on the situation, how it is being said; for example if some says after a horrible atrosity "There is no God" they probably mean "God would not let this happen, so in that case there must not be a God" I would take that to mean that they do believe in God, but just not at that time.
However if someone says "There is no God" . period, I would think they are meaning that they just don't buy into the whole creation thing, in which case they might have an entire set of different beliefs, they don't believe in the traditional sence of what God is.
FYI-I fall into the seconde catagory, in that I don't believe in a God the way the bible tells it, but I have my own spiritual beliefs, I just don't call it God.

They are saying the age-old argument of God being Santa Clause for adults. I think that although a lot of atheists are bright and sincere people, many of them are just looking for a fight. They want attention. Just let them be and keep to yourself, there are too many "religious battles" on Yahoo answers. Many of the very rude atheists on this sight are just jackasses who have nothing else to do but pick fights and say a bunch of crap so they can feel witty and put something in their lives to live for.

Personally, when I say there is no God, I mean for me, for the forseeable future.
Who's to say what will happen in 10, 15, 20 years time? There might be irrefutable proof - who knows?

First of all those people don't know everything. They will even admit it. The problem is getting them to understand that God could possibly exist in the part that they don't know. If they ever see that, it humbles them.

People that say that believe there's no God, but they'll find out soon enough that there is, and maybe even be separated from him forever.

when i say that there is no god, i mean that there was never a god, ever, and there will never be a god, ever.

i just think people made up the concept since the beginning.

maybe they think that God is mad at them so they say that there is no God for them. and i hope that they find out the truth that there is a God and he loves us all but you have to love him back!!! I've always wondered what people meant by that to!
