hey thats all the better that your smart! dont worry- just because you smart doesnt mean that you can only hang out with the "smart kids" (unless you want to!!) i moved to New York from South Korea in 6th grade (i knew english fluently) and was placed in the highest classes available. they were easy for me but the people there wernt my type so i made friends with people that wernt in my class. i distance learned for 7th grade and now im going back there for 8th and i asked specifically to not be placed in the high classes because i wanted to be more with my friends. keep this in mind- once you get to college there is no such thing as the "cool crowd" the "geeks" or any of that. you can roll out of bed put your hair up and walk to class in your pajamas without taking a shower and no one cares. most of the time you wont even talk to others in your class anyway in college. besides good grades mean good job so do your best and dont let schooling get in the way of your friendship!

My birthday is in October too but I started junior high a year early instead of a year late (many, maaany years ago). I think it's better to do it the way you're doing it, I was only 11 when I was in the 7th grade and I think that was too young.
Don't act like you're anything but what you are, you'll make friends. Junior high is kind of an awkward time, but just remember that it's awkward for everyone and not just you... everyone you'll be going to school with is probably worried they'll be the dork for some reason or another. You will be fine! Have fun, be nice to everyone and try lots of new things. Stay friends with your friends from elementary school, but you don't have to stick to them like glue... make new friends, too. And don't tease people thinking that'll make you look cooler! You'll regret that.
Good luck!

I was one of the youngest in my class. You will meet plenty of people to become friends with. If people think you are a dork because you are smart, they are the ones with the problems. Just be yourself. Try to be outgoing to everyone. Don't act stupid, but don't try to show off either. Have fun, and don't worry about what everyone else thikns. It pays to be smart, you should be proud of yourself. Have a great year!

don't be nervous. I just started 7th grade this year. Even if your smart who cares. Be in many extra-curricular activities. Those help a lot

The best thing to do is to act stupid.
For example, if someone asks you, "Hey, how's it going?", try staring blankly at them with your mouth open until you drool.
They will be impressed by your lack of intelligence/dorkishness and want to be your friend.

Join extracurricular activities and clubs... and just be yourself. You'll have more respect in the long run.
