Below is your issue taken from an easy to read and understand animal-based web site. See the source link for more information.
Q. Why do dogs eat grass?
A. Dogs commonly eat grass, and there are several explanations that have been offered for this behavior. One, wild canids (e.g., wolves and fox) eat all of an animal when they catch it. Since they eat many herbivores (plant-eating animals), they end up eating a lot of grasses and plants that were in the intestines of these animals. In addition, they have been known to eat certain berries and other plant material. Dogs then, may eat grass because, in reality, it is a normal part of their diet.
Many times, dogs will vomit after eating grass. Did they eat grass to make them vomit? Or did they vomit because they ate grass? It is a mystery, but it seems that some dogs may eat vegetation when they have an upset stomach.
The third reason - they just like it. Some dogs have certain species of grass or plant material that they will search out and eat. We know a beagle who can pick raspberries faster than his owner.
In any case, grass eating is basically a normal behavior, and is not of concern unless your dog does it excessively.

No it isn't diabetic. Dogs and cats will eat grass for any reason under the sun. The most common is an upset stomach and not having the right diet. Check out the Pet Smart website they should have something there on it.

I work for a vet, and if your dog is vomiting everyday, it needs to see your veterinarian pronto! There could be a hundred different explanations.
If it's eating grass, then it has an upset stomach. Contrary to the popular myth that eating grass helps them feel better, it's not the grass that does it. They eat the grass, in fact, because they're belly is upset and they need something to help them throw up whatever is causing the discomfort. The grass helps them to vomit.
Your dog could have something as simple as allergies, to something as complicated as pancreatic cancer. I don't want to scare you, but really, you need to have him/her seen right away, so you can get to the bottom of this behavior.

Eating grass and vomiting once in a while is OK but 2 - 3 times a day is abnormal. You need to see your veterinarian for a physical and some baseline bloodwork. That's a good place to start.

What "treat" are you giving him? I would hope it doesn't have sugar but is a good doggie treat. When dogs eat grass it is usually a sign of poor nutrition. You may need to switch his food to a premium dog food with less fillers. I would call a vet and ask some questions.

You should take him to the vet. What I did with my dog is that I made her stop eating grass and gave her a kids dose of Kaopectate. Relieves an upset tummy in minutes. It's normal to eat grass but not to do it all the time. He could be developing a habit that you need to break. It's not normal to puke everyday. Could be serious.

Probably not diabetes. If you are truely concerned of diabetes you may want to see your vet. As far as grass goes, we really do not know why they do it. I was a vet tech & every yr at our educational seminars docs would literally get into arguements about it. Many believe they do it for digestion purposes. I personally believe this myself. My cats, dog, & bird all LOVE grass & all but the bird throw it up.

All four of my dogs do this too!! It's really wierd and gross, but was told that it is natural for dogs to want to eat grass... like they crave it or something just like humans crave greens. It does help to clean up their system, but sometimes throw it up b/c their stomaches can't handle it or can't digest it. One suggestion could be to feed it other kinds of greens to help the craving or need to eat grass like lettuce, spinach, etc. My dogs love it and we give it to them as treats. AND most importantly, it's healthy for them too!!

He is probably sick. Take him to a vet and get him checked. My 10 year old dog does the same thing every now and again. He probably has a cold or something of that nature.
