Ha. B.C. means how many years Before Christ (year 0). A.D. means Anno Domini, Year of Our Lord. This is anything after year 0. We are living in A.D. 2006

A.D means Anni Domino and starts from the birth of Jesus Christ (Even though it is thought Christ was born around 4 B.C.)
B.C. means the time before Christ was born.
Simple.

It is Latin and stands for Anno Domini which means "Year of our lord" ie: after Jesus .It is the modern calender so A.D. 1975 is just 1975!
B.C. is Before Christ I don't know why we have one in Latin and one in English though (that could be your next question meebe)
Hope that covers it.

A.D. stands for Archibald Dugenfurter, which was a common name in the 1800's.
Or it might possibly be a latin term meaning "in the year of our lord".

"B.C." means before the birth of christ.
"A.D." means ano domini. which means, in effect, "after death" of christ. so you have to remember to factor in the approx. 33 yrs of life that jesus christ did lead. in other words: one B.C. to one A.D. would be about 35 yrs. one yr. before the birth of j.c. to one yr. after his death. it's in the dictionary.
