Why do some people think that it is only right to pray without 'asking' for something. I read in my Bible that we should 'ask and it shall be given, good measure..."; "be anxious for nothing but in EVERYTHING, by prayer and supplication"; and that God will not "despise the prayer of the destitute". So why is it that I should feel guilty for asking God to help me with something? I have been praying about a partiuclar situation that could potentially have devastating circumstances for me, and I still don't get deliverance from this particular situation, but I am made to feel guilty because I ask for help with it? If God is supposed to be our heavenly Father, and if you needed $100 in an emergency, couldn't you ask your earthly father and expect it? Now if it's a 911 type emergency, why can't you ask your Heavenly Father for this? I don't understand. Someone with a real answer help me, as I am getting down to mustard seed faith!!!

You can ask God for anything, at any time. There's no reason why you should ever feel ashamed to go to Him. Anyone who tells you otherwise either hasn't read the Scriptures or doesn't understand them. You're His beloved child- would He ever be angry with you for trusting Him? The answer you get may not be the one you expected, because we can't see the future very well and sometimes we ask for things which in the end wouldn't be good for us to have. But He promised that all things work together for good to those who love Him, and that promise has sustained me through a lot of hard times when I didn't know what to do. Ask, and if you're in pain tell Him so. He understands, better than anyone on earth possibly could.

You seem to have some knowledge of your material and it is very right to ask God for anything that you wish to.
Ask yourself,"What is it in this World that God did not create?"
There is nothing anywhere that He did not create. We are responsible for nothing other than using the Creation wisely.
The rest we trust to God to take care of:creation wise at least.
We may work to pay the rent, but we did not create the trees that the house is built of.
It has always seemed to be stupid of others to advise me not to bother God with some things.
That part about,"Be anxious for nothing" is a comprehensive statement.
Anxiety will kill you, slowly but surely.
Jesus knew that He was going to go to the cross, but He prayed that if it be possible to remove that from Him.
Obviously,it was not possible as it did occur.
Keep that in mind as you pray, some things are going to happen no matter what.
Pray what is in your heart, not what someone puts in your ear.
That is merely thier opinion.
It is also true that "If you say unto this mountain,be thou removed,it shall obey you."
That is power, pure and simple:use it.

I think it's more correct to say that you should not spend ALL your time in prayer asking for something. How would you feel as a parent if, the only time your child ever called you was to ask for something? Never cared about saying "thanks Dad, I love you", never just calling to say hi?

But if you have a problem, take it to God and lay it at His feet. Then leave it there. See, part of faith and believing that God will help you is to tell Him your problem then let it be His problem, not yours. He WILL rescue you, so relax. Don't continually berate Him to fix you after you've asked, have a bit of faith and let it be solved in His time, not yours. Okay?

I hope you get the answer you are seeking :)

First of all, God knows our mearest thought, what we've done and said and certainly where our future lies. Prayer is the way for us to communicate with Him, to talk to Him, confide in Him whatever troubles our minds, rely upon Him our most difficult tasks and agonies but above all, to praise Him for all the good that He has given us and feel grateful for He embraces us all. Never lose your faith, because there come times where difficulties may shake our beliefs, but that's the trick. Let yourself know that God is always by your side and will have you stand on your feet again for He loves his children.Love is what He's taught us of.

Prayer is just a way for you to talk to God. You don't have to ask for anything but you can. Just remember that God is your father and God does have the right of a father. Also remember to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. And have a nice time talking to your father .

Sure, you may ask and you should not feel guilty about asking... provided you know in your heart that you are worthy to be listened to.

Prayer is making an earnest request, plea, or supplication, and for thanksgiving, always done in secret [one's privacy], kneeling before God, our Heavenly Father, who knows what you need even before you ask. God works in mysterious ways...

Yeshua/Jesus said that Prayers are often heard when you do it with Fasting, as it is written.

Peace be with you!

Don't feel bad about asking God for anything. If what you ask for is in His will, He will give it to you. If you have not received it yet it might be that you are not asking for the right thing. Example: I was disabled for 18 years, my wife and I kept asking God to heal me, but He did not, so one day I was studying my Bible and came to the conclusion that I had to change our prayer. We then asked God to give me something that would heal me, and He did. I've 911's to and God has spared my life. So I know what you mean.

All I can say is be honest with God regardless of what you want.Talk to God as a child would their earthy father. All God wants is your love. God will answer your prayers in the best way for you because he loves you as a child. You got to have faith.

Yes your right you need to work on that faith and close the door of your heart to the enemy I think he is trying to make you feel guilty
remember (resist the Enemy and he will flee) you should ask God that the eyes of your heart be enlightened and I'll be praying for you. God bless you.

It is definately O.K. to ask for things in prayer as long as that is not the only time we pray!

Our pastor gave us a little guideline for prayer, if you get into the habit of praying this way it is harder to get "selfish" during your prayer.

Start with ADORATION: Give God the praise he deserves.

CONFESSION: Humble ourselves before God, ask for forgiveness if we have messed up.

PETITION: This is where you can ask God for things you need/desire.

INTERCESSION: Pray for others.

THANKSGIVING: Thank God for the things He has done for you.

Hope this helps!
