Meats and tend to have the most proetin per grams. White meats and tuna, salmon, halibut, and mackeral tend to be helathiest (however diets high in fish are not reccomended for pregenant women). White meats will provide extra complex carbs that are useful for absorbing and using the proteins, and fish tend to be rich in vitamin E and the healthy Omega fatty acids.

Nuts and legumes also tend to be great side dishes in snacks that will provide you with extra proteins and more nutrients. Soy beans/nuts beat the others by a long shot.

Dairy foods also have alot of protein, but are best eaten in ways of avoiding nutrients that are unhealthy in abundance, such as cholesterol and saturated fats. Cut out the egg yokes and drink less milk with more protein by adding supplements, such as soy or whey protein. Whey also happens to be a dairy product.

Speaking of supplements, you can buy protein in powdered form as I just mentioned.

Although people do need to eat protein and it is very useful, in excess it may not be so great. Unless you are following the Atkin's diet (which I choose not to reference), protein is better to be increased for large gains in muscle mass, and in order to have the full effect of it, you need to increase everything else being eaten, otherwise it may not all be properly utilized and just stored as fat. Plus, there are plenty of myths running around about how diets high in protein put stress on your liver but that's another story.

I eat three egg whites after I've been to the gym training as they are an excellent source of protein with very low sat. fat content. Don't eat the yokes because they are very high in fat.
Chicken and fish are two other good sources of protein.
