Hello I am in love
Obviously, if she can't say how she feels in front of her son there might be something emotional there?? Insecurities?? I don't know, I don't know her. I don't know her son. Is her son still living at home?? But, you do say he is 20, so, you or her are obviously 40 - 45 and he is technically an adult. Does he need her apron strings. Does he pay half of the rent?? Does he work??

She clearly isn't ready for a relationship. Don't waste your time because she isn't being fair to you.
She may be using her son as an excuse to not get serious because she could be (scared, doubtful, unprepared, etc.)
Talk to her son about it. Man to Man. Find out if it bothers him and see if you can do something differently (if it does.) or you will find out that she is just using her son as an excuse.
Good luck!

When you decided to hook up with her, you knew she had "baggage" that came along, too. It is her choice to allow the presence of her son to dictate her behavior, and nothing you can say or do will change that. Her priorities are what they are - and like most mothers, her priorities start with her children, not with her own life. Either learn to live with it and quit complaining to her, or face the fact that you will never be her "owner" and be able to dictate her actions, and move along to greener pastures.

give her an ultimatum or else you'll lose anyway. She is using her adult son as a cop out. If she really cared, he would be taking a back seat to you at this point in her life, when it comes to her life and future with someone (romance)

if you really love her then her sons oppinion shouldnt matter.
but dont dismiss him
my dad started dating this woman and i was devastaed.
dont take away from him, give him space and most importantly, remember he is the most importent man in this womans life.
but if you really love her, go for it. respect him and her and everything shoild be fine.

Family always comes first. ( Blood is thicker than water) If you really like this lady, get to know her son.
