I took a tablet this morning but my eyes were starting to itch... so i rubbed them...now that pink bit in the corner and the membraney bit on the lower lid have swollen up a bit. Ew! does this happen to anyone else? (i also get runny nose and sneezing).

Yes, this can happen with allergies. The worst I had was when I was about 15 and I stroked my cat then rubbed my eye. The whole white of my eye went pink and swelled up! I looked like a complete freak.

If you rub your eye and have an allergen on your hands or fingers, it just rubs it into the eye and intensifies the reaction in that area. Bathe your eyes in water with cotton wool and sit with soaked cold cotton wool pads on your eyes until the swelling goes down.

Hay fever- A form of allergic rhinitis in which attacks of catarrh (inflammation of a mucus membrane with constant flow of mucus), of conjunctiva, nose and throat are precipitated by exposure to pollen especially ragweed. It can be quite mild or severe as to cause loss of sleep and weight. Hay fever occurs most commonly in late summer and fall, but sometimes also in spring and early summer, when it may be called rose fever.
Some patients are relieved by Antihistamines, others by desensitizing injections of the pollen to which they are sensitive (after this has been determined by skin tests). Still others go to resorts more or less free of irritating pollens, or try to stay in air- conditioned rooms during their hay-fever season. No single treatment relieve all sufferers.

DONT WORRY MY FRIEND,I LOOK LIKE I HAVE BEEN SMACKED IN THE EYES WITH LEMONS.THEY ARE JUST LIKE YOURS BUT ALSO NEARLY CLOSED AS I CUT THE BLOODY GRASS WITHOUT WEARING MY GOGGLES.TRY OPTREX EYE WASH UNTIL YOU CAN GET TO THE DOCS OR THE CHEMIST FOR SOME SALINE EYE DROPS.THEY REALLY DO RELIEVE THE TERRIBLE ITCHING.IF YOU CONTINUE TO ITCH,THEY WILL SWELL LIKE MINE.WASH YOUR HANDS REGULAR AS YOU WILL HAVE POLLEN ON THEM BY TOUCHING THINGS WITHOUT REALISING.I AM GETTING THE KENALOG INJECTION ON MONDAY FROM THE DOC.ITS FANTASTIC,YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HAYFEVER FOR A WHOLE YEAR.GOOD LUCK FELLOW SNEEZER OF POLLEN............P.S.I LIKE TO MAKE A LOT OF NOISE WHEN I SNEEZE..IT DOESNT MAKE IT ANY BETTER BUT IT SURE IS SATISFYING.

There are great over-the-counter allergy eye drops that I use during a few weeks each summer when something in the air bothers my eyes. I'd suggest trying that to see if it alleviates your symptoms.
