I just caught a 5ft snake in my yard and chopped its head off with a machette. I think it came to eat my 2 month old kitten. Cause the last time I saw a snake that large in my yard was when my Chihuahua had puppies.

So should I be worried about my kitten roaming outside? He just loves to go outside to explore. I think if he sees a snake he may go over to try and play with it. So is he in danger and should I keep him inside all the time?

Thank goodness my Chihuahuas always alert me when they see snakes in the yard. This one may even have been the one that bit one of my Chihuahuas. If so, I'm so glad I got my revenge.

OK this it to the people who are sympathetic to the snake.....

I used to be too. In the past, I would catch them and release them miles away. But not after one of them bit my Chihuahua in the face and almost killed him. He's my little baby that I've had for 4 years and when the vet told me that the best thing for him was to put him down, I was furious as hell. I then made up my mind that I was going to kill any snake that slithered on to my property. I am not going to risk another one of my pets being hurt or killed just for the sake of PETA sympathesizers. My neighbor's dog was killed by a rattler and he treats them the same way. I care more about my pets than any of these cold blooded killers.

Well if some snakes are strong enough to take down a full-grown alligator, what's to stop them from eating a kitten?

no, the snake was there to bring you a message. too bad you chopped its head off. Snake Totem goes something like this:

Wisdom, Healing, Initiation

This a powerful totem -- it is
the symbol of transformation and healing.
The Snake is wisdom expressed through healing.

The Snake is the symbol of eternity.

It is a protector and guardian totem,
along with its sister totems, the Dragon and the Serpent.

If a snake totem has come into your life, your creative forces are awakening.
Your intuition will sharpen and be more accurate.

Snake energy is the energy of wholeness, cosmic consciousness, and
the ability to experience anything willingly and without resistance.
It is the knowledge that all things are equal in creation.

It also signals a transition in your life.
New opportunities and/or changes.

Snake is fire medicine, the medicine of transmutation.
On a material level, it is vitality; on an emotional level, it is ambition and dreams;
on a mental level, it is intellect and power; on a spiritual level (the highest level),
it is wisdom, understanding and wholeness.

Of direction its viable. If the kitten used to be younger (eight weeks ancient) and you have got a giant snake (over five feet lengthy) its very viable the snake ate the kitten. As for telling your gf - well success in this one! I could strongly recommend you to be caging your snake. Then once more, you could no longer have a gf after telling her!

you ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION. Yes it isn't safe to leave them outside. Snakes want the warmth and when they sense something warm and moving, yes it will wrap itself around it, chocking it till it dies, and while this is happening the cat or kitten what ever there prey is at the time , cant make no sound , due to the snake wrapped so tight around it. Snakes can eat a full size Kangaroo . Its amazing how large they can open and slowly pull there prey in. Anyways i don't think kittens or cats should be kept outdoor,s. a dog yes maybe depending on the breed, but a kitten or cat. no they are indoor animals. My opinion.

Pet's should stay inside.I love animals. We have three dogs(all animal rescues) two cats one snake (6ft boa) one rat and 30 Fish in our pond but I can tell you if my neighbors cats don't stop peeing in our garage and walking on our cars I'm gonna take a machete to them.Moral to the story if you love the kitten make it an indoor cat it will get used to not going outside and then you don't have to worry.Plus you don't have to worry about your kitty bringing fleas in your home.

It depends on the type of snake, but yes, if it's big enough it may try to eat your kitten. You should let him outside only when you're there to watch until he's old enough to have more of a chance.

If a snake is large enough to eat a kitten and it is hungry it will eat the kitten. I have seen this happen with my own eyes.
