Sucralose aka "Spenda" is chemically altered sugar that reduces the caloric content from 15 gr/ teaspoon to 2gr/tsp...
Part of the process used to 'extract' the sweetness from the sugar uses formaldehyde and chlorine both which are known carcinogenic even in trace amounts!!! Thus when you eat Splenda laced products you are ingesting an experimental chemical concoction into your digestive tract which is a known (but yet designated) carcinogenic...
The chemists who were under contract to invent "Splenda" at Queen Elizabeth College (a part of King’s College, GB) have reportedly banned their families from ever eating it due to their concerns about the chemical composition and long term health consequences...
Their fears seem to be valid since research has shown the following problems: shrunken thymus glands, enlarged liver and kidneys, atrophy of lymph follicles in the spleen and thymus, increased cecal weight, reduced growth rate, decreased red blood cell count, hyperplasia of the pelvis, longer than normal human pregnancies, spontaneous human aborted pregnancy, decreased fetal weight and placental weight, chronic diarrhea
An aside, approximately 20% of Splenda is excreted thru a males penis so those looking to sweeten their seminal fluid for their lover's tastes can do so using Splenda filled sodas and other products...

First let me say another person here said it is made from a substitute- aspartame and that is completely untrue, it is a whole different substance. Splenda is made from sugar. In a lab molecules can be split apart and that is what they did with sugar. They split sugar in a way to get the taste and not the bad calorie stuff. Contact the company for a detailed explanation.

SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener is not sugar, it is a non-caloric alternative to sugar. It gets its sweetness from sucralose (also known as SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener), which is made from sugar so it tastes like sugar. SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener is manufactured through a patented multi-step process that starts with cane sugar and selectively replaces 3 hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sugar molecule with 3 chlorine atoms. Chlorine is present naturally in many of the foods and beverages that we eat and drink every day ranging from lettuce, mushrooms and table salt. In the case of sucralose, its addition converts sucrose to sucralose.

They took small particles of sugar and baked them which made it like flakes. Bigger flakes. Splenda has like 2 carbs that's from the sugar.

It's actually chemically treated sugar, what you eat is the result of a chemical process that leaves calories behind.
