usually you have to contact Norton or your computer manufacturer...norton hides files to get you to contact them

You can also look for....Live Update and Live Reg in your add/remove (as they are norton) and also anything Symantec is Norton too

Problem: The solution to many problems with Symantec AntiVirus is to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus, then re-install. You can use these instructions to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus.

Solution: In order to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus and all related components you need to follow these instructions.
Note: This procedure will remove all Symantec products, not just Symantec AntiVirus.

Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel
In the control panel double-click on Add / Remove Programs
Look through the list of installed programs for any item that says either "Norton" or "Symantec" or "LiveUpdate". (for example "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition" or "Norton AntiVirus 2000")
For each "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate" item, select the item and click Add / Remove. Follow the instructions, and click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.
When you are done there should be no items in the list that say "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate".
Click OK to close the Add / Remove Programs window.
Reboot your computer if it hasn't already automatically rebooted.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus (or c:\Program Files\Norton) folder.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec folder.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder.

If uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus using Add / Remove Programs does not work, you can use the directions on this Symantec website to manually remove all elements of Symantec Antivirus from your computer.

Once you are done with these instructions, you can download and re-install Symantec Antivirus. Downloads are limited to Cornell students, faculty, staff and affiliates.

After you un-install there are a few folders and over 200 registry entries left. You would need to remove each entry for Norton and symantic from the registry and then search for both Norton and symantic on your computer and delete all. Personally I would format and re-install. ( actually I would put back my ghost image that I have from before the other Norton stuff)

for starters why would you want to get rid of one of the best anti virus programs in the world...? But if you really want to do so you need to go to add and remove programs and wait till all files are uploaded and find Norton anti virus and click the add/remove button and it will run you through the removal program..peace
