Ok, some of these answers are correct, others aren't.
First, your vision does not have to be perfect. In fact, there was a recent rule made that allows for the pilot to wear soft contact lenses with vision as bad as 20/400 (check on that though...not sure if those are exact). But with 20/40 vision correctable to 20/20. Having had any civilian corrective eye surgery will disqualify you.
You need to be an officer to fly. NROTC, the USNA, OCS or any other officer program (such as seaman to admiral--where you enlist then go into ROTC as an OC). Right now I am in NROTC at the University of Memphis (Marine Corps Option) and I am hoping to get picked up 1390 (student naval aviator). Your degree doesn't matter, as much as some say it does and I thought it once did. I have 2 buddies who were picked up for avaition and have business finance degrees. I know another that has a criminal investigation type degree. Just do well at whatever you pick. Many people say majors such as history do better than engineering majors because they can easily memorize stuff what is what you spend most of your time doing in flight school.
Being physically fit is important in getting into flight school. Also being very healthy. You will go through a couple of in depth physicals and the DoD doesn't want to spend millions training someone who is going to be discharged in a year because they are prone to illness/injury.
Someone said stay out of trouble:) Yeah that's true,. What is really funny is that there used to be a part of the ASTB (Aviation Selection Test Battery) that used to ask personal questions. Some of them had to deal with stuff like "Have you ever gotten a ticket for speeding?" and if you answered that question "no," it was counted wrong. They have since removed that section though.
Flight School usually takes about 2 years. You spend about 2 months in IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) where you get your private civilian liscence and they see if you really have the potential to fly. You can do that in an area around your ROTC unit or in Pensacola. The rest of your actual flight training will be in Pensacola Florida.
Naval aviators are the best in the world (that include Marine Corps pilots!). Work hard to get there if you want it.
Contact me or IM me on AOL at smeagolyduck13 if you have any questions or would like to chat about flying.
O, and as for the one poster above who said the Academy has the most aviation slots--I believe that is untrue. The Academy trains you specifically to be a sailor and be in command on a ship. ROTC has a proven higher percentage of people who want to become pilots getting pilot. In the past 10 years not one person in my unit that wanted and applied for aviation did not get it.
Good luck

You have to take many tests and qualify. But they usually won't let you become a pilot unless you are an officier and the best way to do that is to go through college and get a degree in Math or Engineering. However the way to go about it is the same but the Marines are in a greater need of Pilots. My Bother in Law is a pilot. If you would like more info just e-mail me.

Your best bet is to get an appointment to the Naval Academy. They have the most aviation slots to offer.

Barring that, get yourself into a Navy ROTC program. You need to be in EXCELLENT shape, have good grades (at least a 3.0, if not higher), and have the right attitude. The recommendations you get from your ROTC commander will make or break you. And the better you do in grades and with physical fitness tests, the more likely you are to get your first choice slot of aviation.

Study hard and get that degree.
Then try to break yourself of the habit of calling them "pilots".
They hate that word and prefer to be called "Aviators".

Excellent education and grades
Excellent eyesight
Excellent hand eye coordination
NO criminal record
And pass an exam to get into training for a pilot.
That's about it.
