God's idea of marriage is 2 become 1 not 3 or more become 1. I'll show you some verses where it says men should have 1 wife and hopefuly you'll not be hard heartened about it.
TITUS 1:6 if any man is blameless, the husband of one WIFE, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly.
EPH 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his WIFE; and the two shall become one flesh.
ROM.7:2 For the woman that hath a husband is bound by law to the husband while he liveth; but if the husband die, she is discharged from the law of the husband.
3 So then if, while the husband liveth, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man.
I'm sure if we research enough we'll still find things regarding this matter.
Sequel verses:1TI 3:2 The bishop therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one WIFE, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1TI 3:12 Let deacons be husbands of one WIFE, ruling [their] children and their own houses well.
I'm not a nazi just a follower of the word. God bless.

Technically, you are correct about the Bible and Constitution, but you should not say that people who disagree with you are "bigots and social nazis". Also there is an injunction in the Bible against church deacons and elders having multiple wives. What there is against polygamy is laws in all the States.

It would actually make more sense for women to be given the option of more than one husband. First it would slow down the population growth and second it would increase the financial situation of each household. The male ego is way to out of control for such a concept to catch on. As a wife of 10 years I can tell you I would not mind if my husband took a lover or another wife. He is free to live as he chooses and I hope that he wakes everyday and makes the choice to be with me.

The Bible does not say you can not have more than one wife true. But it does tell us only one at a time. It gives us guide lines regarding the choosing of a wife which many of us have failed to follow but in 1st Corinthians 7 these are the guidelines regarding the Christian man regarding marriage.

The government. Interestingly when people argue that we should be having more traditional marriages, they forget that more traditional marriages involved polygamy in the past. The reason why we have no polygamy now is because it would be very hard to change our current marriage system with dual insurance and tax benefits to married couples to expand multiple spouses. I did read a essay supporting polygamy a bit ago. It was an interesting and good read. I suggest it to anyone interested. Its called "Monogamy: A Critique" by John McMurtry.

I really understand the ladies' feelings over here.Maybe taking these cases into consideration would help you see things differntly though.
1)Imagine a place with more women than men (and it happens alot)....what should all those poor women do?Either they will stay single for the rest of their lives, or cause someone to cheat , or just settle with someone who is already married cause that's the best option available.
2)There are some old widows who need emotional and financlial support. However very few single men would marry an old widow. So what if a married man marries her, not for sexual purposes and lusts, but to take care of her and make her life easier.
Thats just 2 cases and there is more.

It is not spoken to in the Constitution because the individual states govern these rights. It is against the law in every state (in some states it's a felony), and if you do it across several states, it becomes a federal crime. It's called fraud and polygamy. The US Supreme Court even ruled that religious sects are not exempt.

Donny, Donny, Donny...state constitutions, which regulate marriage are the laws that say you can't have more than one wife. However, you can shack up with as many women as will agree to it and pretend it's all marriage, even having ceremonies, and enjoy yourself. But if you get arrested and thrown in jail, don't say I didn't tell you so.

Okay, then can I have more than one husband? Does that change the tone of your question at all?
Personally, I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own home, and if all parties involved are consenting, good for them.
But what about multiple husbands? I never hear anything about that. Then again, one is so much trouble, why the heck would you want to multiply it??

Does the US constitution allow the Mormons of Utah to have two wives ? It let them join the nation in exchange for a promise to give up the practice of bigamy.
