Antifreeze is only one of the dangers your dog can encounter in your garage. Motor oil, gasoline and other fluids like windshield wash can drip on a dog while he is exploring beneath a car. Motor oil is the least serious poisoning scenario. Symptoms of motor oil ingestion are depression, lethargy, paralysis of hind legs, staggering, vomiting and coma, in very severe cases.
If your dog has ingested oil, do not induce vomiting. Wrap your dog in a towel and take him to the vet. The situation is urgent but not critical. If your dog is merely covered in oil, wash him well with lukewarm water and mild soap, then wrap him in a towel. Watch the animal for symptoms of ingestion, and if he exhibits symptoms, take him to the vet.

I have heard that antifreeze is the worst.
For motor oil,
How much are we talking about? Did it lick an oil spot in the driveway, or gulp down a whole quart?
Based on your new information, it should be alright. Keep an eye on the dog to see if it does anything unusual. I can't believe that if it was 15 hours ago, that getting it to vomit now would help much.

I'd have her drink lots of water, but not so much she pucks, to try to flush it out until you can get her to a vet. That or you want her to throw up, just to get the motor oil out. I don't know lots about what motor oil does to people/dogs, but I don't think that it's good. She might be poisened. You should probably call poisen control or something to ask questions. I hope you're dog turns up okay! :(

Call poison control or a vet to be sure. Fresh motor oil would be safer than used oil, which has cancer causing chemicals in it. I imagine that she didn't drink too much of it - it's not like anti-freeze which is poisonous, but tastes good. If she drank it less than an hour ago, you can get some syrup of ipecac - give her a teaspoon of that and she should immediately throw up.

For a 60 lb dog, use 2-3 tablespoons of salt. Put it down the back of their throat, and they will vomit EVERYTHING in their stomach within 5-10 minutes. My dog has ate rat poison and oil. The vet told me to do this.

REALLY BAD!!! As in, get to an emergency vet NOW, or else it might not make it. The less it drank, the better chances it has to live, but you have to get that dog to the vet now!

Yes this is very bad..... considering engine oil contains all sorts of toxic additives and such...... take the dog to the vet and have her stomach pumped.

EXTREMELY! It is toxic and can either make the dog very, very sick or kill it. I think you need to contact your vet immediately and have it examined. Some vet offices have emergency services and you need to get it there quickly. Don't delay.
