Grass aids in their digestion. It is good for them, as long as you have not sprayed pesticides.

They sell cat gardens. I included several links so you can see how much you are saving by growing your own.

It's a natural craving from the body-Fresh vegetation. My dogs and cat eat grass. You can also but little indoor "pet grass gardens" to grow inside, for pets that don't go out, or have no grass around the home.

I read awhile ago, and I'm not sure how true it is, that cats need grass in their diet. I read that if their diet consists of mostly canned cat food, there is something in the food or something that leaches from the can, that can lead to blindness. Something in the grass counteracts that. I found this on the internet::

Taurine: Essential amino acid required by cats. This is found in cat foods, but must be supplemented if the cat is fed table scraps or is fed dog food. A deficiency of this can lead to reproductive problems and blindness.

"It's a normal part of their diet," says Holly Frisby, DVM, of Doctors Foster & Smith, Inc. in Wisconsin. Wild canine relatives of dogs--wolves and foxes--eat all of an animal when they catch it. They end up, therefore, eating grasses and plants in the intestines of these animals. Domestic dogs, eating prepared dog food, lack this part of their diet and so they eat grass.

"They just like it!" Frisby also says. She mentions a beagle that picks raspberries faster than his owner.

Another reason: dogs may eat grass when they have an upset stomach in order to cause vomiting. "The grass will bind with the offending material. Then the grass acts as an irritant and causes the dog to vomit, bringing up the poisonous material at the same time," says Celia Feiler, DVM, of Winston Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina.

Finally, dogs may appear to eat grass, says Feiler, when they are just running the blades through their mouth to gather information. Their sense of smell and taste may act together to detect if other animals have walked through their area or urinated on the grass.

Eating grass helps animals soothe their stomachs.
Like we would take Pepto-Bismol
My dog was just eating grass a little while ago, because he decided to dig in the garbage.
Your animals will be fine.

They usually only eat grass then they are:
1. Have a stomach ache or they are just not felling well.
2. Are really hungary
3. Are bored (not kidding)

You may want to change what food you are feeding your dog and/or go and ask your vet.

Most animals eat grass because their stomachs are upset. Maybe they are eating something that upsets it before they eat grass. I would try to monitor what they eat as much as you can. Good luck!

Unless you see their health failing, don't worry about it. Animals have the natural instinct to treat themselves for stomach problems or it could be they need the grass for vitamins or the fiber or they like the taste or it could be they get a good feeling from that particular plant, like catnip. If they seem sick for very long you might want to take them to the Vet.

Grass is a bowl stimulate; just like XLax, or Metamucil, for humans.
Have you had them to the Vet lately, for a checkup??
It's normal to eat some, but not all the time.
Best of luck.
