good luck with that, try a DIY store or somewhere that will sell a paddling pool. Or even Ebay. Would it be possible that a local church would let you use theirs? although you would then have to do the baptism at a none church time which may not be possible for you.

Feed store, definitely You might add extra drain spigots at the bottom of the side walls. Water weights 8 pounds a gallon and there are 7.5 gallons in a cubic foot, more or less. A trough two feet wide, 7 feet feet long and a foot deep will hold 105 gallons and weigh 840 pounds when full. (Plus the weight of the trough itself.)

7x2x1 seems to be reasonable if your denomintion uses full immersion. You should fill it up before hand, in your back yard, and time it. Then you will know how long to arrive at the real meeting beforehand to start the hose. The extra drain spigots are so you don't have to stand around afterwards waiting for it to empty. That, or have eight men tip it over, figuring 100 pounds per man.

You could also look into children's wading pools, but a water trough is usually long and narrow - just about right - and wading pools tend to be square or round.

All in all, if your congregation has someone with a swimming pool, it might be easier to hold the baptisms in their back yard.

i once knew a man who woke another man up in the middle of the night and asked him if he wanted to accept jesus as lord and savior and be baptised in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. this man, half awake said yes. any way the guy led him to the bathroom and perpetrated a full immersion in the bath tub. whether or not you agree with the whole senario, you've got to give him points for the effort.

Depending on what you have to carry it around in, have you thought of a bathtub? Some of the new ones are pretty light. You could check around at your local junk yard or a habitat for humanity warehouse sale. I hear you can get really good deals there.

Where in the Bible does it say you should baptise with water? Are you following Jesus or John the Baptist?

If you are looking for total immersion I immediately thought of ex-army folding canvas bathtubs (if such a thing exists - I'm quite sure they used to. Probably only for officers, though!)
