It depends on what the pollutant is. The limits are very specific for each. They're very strict though because they measure it all in parts per million. I'd suggest going to the EPA website there is a lot of useful information as well as the forum for reporting violations.

depends also on where you are, each state and every country seems to have different standards and standards in public areas and private areas like inside industrial plants are different also
