Think about your motivation. Are you scared of something?
Going to church does NOT make you a better human, not even a better believer. You rather take positive actions in your life.

I think the first thing you must do is WANT to attend Mass. This means learning to love Mass. To do this you must have a better understanding of it.
To start with, if you don't have a missal, get one and also a Catholic calender so that you always know which week we are in. Go through the readings of the week before you go to mass, more than once if you like. Keep in mind the theme for that week, which is summarised in the first passage at the top of the page. Study the order of the Mass in the missal, eg notice that the
'I confess' comes very near the beginning of Mass. Also that the Eucharistic prayers are a sort of 're-enactment' of Jesus' passion death and resurrection which frees us from our sins, just as at the Passover celebration, stories are told which re-enact the first Passover when the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt.
The Mass is rich in Symbolism which are meant to remind us of very important things and if you know why certain things are happening during the Mass it will help you to appreciate it better. eg There is always an entry procession of servers followed by the priest. This reminds of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem when he was glorified by the people just before he was crucified.
We stand for the Gospel to show our readiness to accept the Good News.
When the priest adds a tiny drop of water to the wine it symbolises Jesus' Godly nature (the wine), and His human nature (the water, which must be a tiny drop to show that we believe that Divine nature is far greater than human nature).
At this point the priest says, 'By the mystery of this water and wine may we partake in your Divinity as you humbled yourself to partake in our humanity. ' This is to remind us that we shoud aspire to everlasting life, and thus be like God and also that God came down from heaven and entered a human body so that he could be sacrificed for our sins.
The priest washes his hands AFTER preparing the gifts of bread and wine, not before. Here he is following what the priests of the Old Testament did. AFTER slaughtering the animal, the priests' hands would become dirty and bloody, so that is when he would need to wash them. This reminds us that Jesus was a real living sacrifice that takes away our sins.
There is much more and you should be able to get some literature on this from the CTS.
Now you need to tell God sincerely that you are sorry for your sins and will try to do better in the future. Go to confession if you can, but if this is a big barrier for you, you can leave it until later when you feel ready for it. I am sure you will get strength by attending Mass.
Don't go to Mass as a sort of obligation, but I am sure that if you follow my advice you will look forward to attending.
Finally, next Sunday is the feast of Corpus Christi. A good day to make a new start. I would suggest that you study John 6: 25-57 during this week.
May the good and forgiving Lord bless you.

You cant make up with God as he has never left you at all.All you have to do is start talking to him again, nothing fancy, try straight talking and no mumbo-jumbo.Whether you go to church or not does not matter,in the end its your relationship with him that counts.I'm a catholic who doesn't go to church either, but i'm still a good catholic, but above all else ,a good christian and a better man for all that.

You just took your biggest step toward him. God knows what is in your heart, and your intention is a large part of it. Think of it this way, every day is a new day, a new start to begin again to rebuild, and renew, and what was broken can be fixed and what was missed can be found. God never gives up on us, neither should you give up on yourself.
When the Virgin Mary appeared to Fatima, she tolled her that the gates of Heaven shall remain opened all of God's Children will be able to enter it. We are given chances over and over to redeem ourselves, you just took the first big step. Now, keep on, and remember God's well, and he will never forsake you.
Going to Church is not the only way, it is how you live your life, and how you treat others. None of us can tell for sure how. We all are just like you, at one point of our life, we all have forgotten or chosen to do against God's well.
-Treat others' as you wish to be treated, and all will fall into place.
-Forgive those who wronged you, for how would you expect GOD to forgive your sins, and we all sin, if you are not willing to forgive those who sinned against you.
-Blessed be the Peace keeper and maker. Bless you for all you do to bring people together in Peace, even in the smallest measure as kids in the play ground.
-You can praise God in the things you do, not only in going to Church. You should go to Church, but also remember God is everywhere, and whenever you praise the Lord, you are in Church. Suppose you are in a Place and there is not one Church around, would that person who praise God, sinned! No. In so many countries around the world, some are even forbidden to pray, and they find a place and the time to connect with the God, and be close to him, in their own way, and that is the point. Not the building, but the intent.
GOD Bless you one and ALL
Peace to ALL

Going to church seems to get people bewitched,
a sad commentary on the state of our churches,
and on the ministers, priests, head offices thereof.
Out of Chruch Christians is an ever growing thing.
Such do not leave seeking, but leave the hypocrisy,
and the partiality, and the division thereof churches.
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons2.htm
"Peace with God" is notably "through Jesus->Christ",
the "Christ" thereof notably being "the end of the law",
not via the "law" "law" many churches teach & preach,
from Mt 22:36-40, which says "the 2nd is like the 1st";
And when this info is applied to Rom 8:2 "law" "law",
it's not only "law", but "law" resulting in "sin & death";
Not to mention Death is followed by "hell" in Rev 6:8,
by not knowing the horse Death rode in on is the law.
So, to make up with God so to speak, be "Christ"-like,
our "peace", who hath "abolished the law": Ephesians 2,
to the point of "blotting out" what's "against us": law: Col 2,
to the point of what's ready to vanish, shall vanish: 1Cor 13,
and to the point there is no mention of _ _ _ at all in "the end":
http://www.godshew.org/NoLawNoDeadEnd.htm
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Repent to God for any sins, Thank Jesus for what He did for you on the cross, knowing He rose victorious. John wrote, "If we confess our sins, He is just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Get to the root reason why you quit going regularly. Ask God for wisdom without doubting. Maybe God is directing you somewhere else at this time. Now is a time we need oil in our lamp. Pray in the Spirit to God every morning for direction throughout the day.
It is written to not forsake gathering with the saints especially when the age of Christ is near.

As long as you are a true believer in God, then you shouldn't have to "make up" with Him. If He is in your heart , then He understands. Going to church does not make you believe or be a follower any more or less. You can praise Him in your thoughts in the middle of Wal-Mart if you want to, it doesn't have to be church. But if you want to make yourself feel better, just start attending church again, and keep it up.

God says fail not to assemble yourselves. If the church which means congregation is not your kind of people, go and find a congregation that you will enjoy. Statistics say that 99 percent of people go to church for fellowship. Making up with God, God says you separate yourselves sensually from him. If you have a middle man between you and God you need to read more of God's word. God wrote a letter to you, I think it more important to get the message from my true father. Don't You?

I agree with swissnick. Going to church doesn't necessarily make you right with God. What makes you right with God is your brokenness; your willingness to be open to His will in your life and to love Him. He says if you love Me, you'll keep My commands. That's it. Going to church isn't going to totally mend that. What going to church will do is (hopefully) put you in touch with other believers who can be a support system, a place where you can study/analyze and talk about the Word of God in freedom, and should create a family-like situation with other people who care enough to hold you accountable.
All you have to do to 'make up' with God is ask for His forgiveness.

First off, you have to get saved. Just because you go to church does not make you right with God. A whole lot of persons who are Lutheran, Wesleyan etc go to church but they are not right with God.
