For example the BAH for an E-1 (with dependents) in the Hampton Roads area is: $1,126.00.

*Note: There is no extra money for having more than 1 dependent!*

BAH rates are dependant on duty station zip code and pay grade normally. IF his orders read Unacompanied however(meaning family members are NOT authorized to join them) then the BAH rate is based on the zip code of where the family resides. This is typically the situation when the SM is in initial training( basic and schools) or when sent to places like Korea where family members are typically not allowed.

Which state and how many years has he been in the army? It varies greatly depending on those details. For example, in Kansas City, MO for an E-01 with no dependents and less than 4 years in the army, they get $622 per month.

Go to this website: https://secureapp2.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/bah.html

Its a page where you can input your husband's rank, whether or not he has dependents and the zip cod to where you'll be stationed. You'll find out exactly how much money he'll be making. If I were you I would try my damnest to get on-post housing, E-1s don't make much. If you don't where he is going, then you're just going to have to wait and find out. Until then, start saving money.
