I'm really suffering at the moment with a stuffed up runny nose,and i feel like i'm talking with a clothes peg on my nose,
my throat also feels congested and scratchy,
what causes this,is it the high pollen and or something else ?
i went to the beach today thinking being by the sea wouldn't be bad,but it was,
i'm a bit wary about taking medication because i'm very sensitive to most,are there any natural remedies that may help?
even when i'm indoors its just as bad,

We can be allergic to almost anything...Cats, dust, pollen, even too much sun affects some people. I heard stinging nettles is supposed to help, but I never tried it myself. What works for me is that plop plop fizz fizz cold medicine you drop in a glass of water. It says it's for colds, but it's the only thing that works for my allergy. You can even be allergic to a soap you're using. If you can, go to an allergy doctor. She/ he will run tests to pin point exactly what is causing your problems. BTW, stinging nettles is a plant. You can find it in your local drug store in the vitaman section.

I come from a long line of allergy sufferers and the Nasonex and Flonase work really well. Oh and there is Astelin nose spray (it kinda burns though). They work by putting a kind of band aid if you will inside your nasal mucosa so that when you breathe in the allergen it does not penetrate. Things that are big offenders of allergies are posters in bedrooms, stuffed animals, pet dander and carpet. They make these overlays you get get for your pillowcases and mattresses that do not let the dust mites get into your bed and I have heard that those work wonders. Another thing that the allergists recommend is to use a COOL mist humidifier in your room at night. Not a warm one because the warm ones can be a big breeding ground for molds which will only make it worse. As long as you clean your filter out regularly it should work for a long time. These are just some suggestions that I have found that work for my family if you don't want to take medicines. Tile or laminate flooring (especially in your bedroom) is better because it does not attract the dust mites like carpet does.

I read an article about hayfever and other allergies a little while ago. Apparently, scientists do not know for sure what causes allergies. Their best guess was that you develop allergies to things that you are not exposed to when you are very young; so your body does not build up a tolerance to it.
I hope you feel better soon.

I definately feel your pain (and they never figured out where mine came from, its mostly just seasonal). I've had to go on prescription medicine for allergies and its definately a lifesaver. Both allegra-d and zyrec-d are wonderful in my experience. I'd try some over the counter medicines for allergies to see if they work first (usually a little less expensive). Hope you get the help you need!

people can be allergic to many different things - pollen is a huge one - so are dust mites.
talk to your dr about allergy meds there are MANY out there - if your having sensitivities try taking childrens doseages - i take allergy meds but when it gets really bad i also take tiaminic (i like the dissolve tabs) they are a half dose of the adult and they do not knock me out like most adult meds do!!

No idea how to help you, but I feel your pain. seiously, I have the exact same symptomns, and I don't thik that it's just pollen, because I was in a field all morning, and felt fine, but on the journey home, I felt absolutely terrible. If you find a remedy please let me know too.

U HAVE FIRST SENSITIVITY REACTION;
UR BODY WILL ALWAYS BE STIMUATED BY POLLENS, ETC... AS LONG AS U R EXPOSED TO THEM
UR MAST CELLS RELEAST ALL THEIR CYTOKINES AND THE CYTOKINES RESULT IN COUGHING AND SECRETING RESPIRATORY FLUIDS;
WHAT U CAN DO IS TAKE ANTIHISTAMINES TO STOP THESE MAST CELLS FROM RELEASEING ALL THESE CHEMICALS; I.E. ANITALLERGINS;
GO TO THE DOC; I AM STILL A MED STUDENT :)
