Ask him where he heard about this and explain to him what it is and why as a healthy child he doesn't need it done.

Ask if he really knows what that means. Have him tell you. Ask where he heard it. And then why he would want it done. If he has very mature and knowledgeable answers then make an appointment with the doctor and let him talk to the doctor about it. If there are health risks who better to explain them than a professional. He may listen better than just to you. If the doctor hears what he has to say and agrees then allow it. If he does not know what he is asking or does not have a reasonable answer when you ask tell him to research it before he asks again. Doing something like that just because he heard it on TV or his friends are doing it is not mature. I think he will learn more that way than you just saying no or allowing it. Good luck!

I agree with norm, I would talk to him about it. Ask him where he learned about them and what he knows about them. He really shouldn't need one and it's kinda strange a 10 year old is concerned with one-usually that age would find it disgusting. It was probably something he saw on t.v. because I know I have seen, for example, Bam Margera's show someone had one done and praised them afterwards and said he felt great. I have to admit after watching that show I was kinda wanting one too, but for me at 26 yo I don't eat as healthy as I should and thought it would (don't ask why) make me lose some weight. After many thoughts I decided "NO WAY". Good luck to you and your son-he sound's a little more intune with his body than most boys his age.

Be concerned...VERY CONCERNED!
Ask yourself, "Why?" And then ask him why.

If he said he heard it somewhere, ask him where.....I watched "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah last night, and there was a mention of it in there. has he seen that movie?

Back to the first respnse I had....that isn't normal for a kid of his age? Really question him about his question.

Figure out why he wants it- and let him know that its supposed to hurt to have it done. Also, let him try to figure out where to come up with the money for it himself as well.

let him. I doubt he will want to do it again for a long time!!! it'd not like he is asking to do drugs or anything harmful

Stop letting him watch so much TV. Or, change his diet. Your choice.

Ask him if he knows what it means, if no, then let him find out for himself.
