You should buy either a full or half sheet, a half sheet feeds 40-50 and a full feeds 60-80. But it all depends on how big you cut the pieces and how many pieces each guest will eat

It depends on how big you cut the pieces--if you are serving cake only the pieces should be bigger than if you are serving a full meal beforehand. I recently bought a full sheet cake which serves 80-100 people (small pieces). We cut the pieces 2"x3" and served about 35 people with about 1/3 of the cake left over.

If you plan on feeding that many people on a regular basis invest the money in a really great book called " Food for Fifty". Every one that makes large quantities of food has a copy in their library.
A standard full sheet pan is !8 x 26 inches . a one half pan is 18 x 13 . so a full sheet cut into 64 pieces should the job. How did I get 64 ? the easiest way to cut something large up is to initially cut it in half and continue to cut the halves into halves.. so 26/2 =13, 13/2=6.5, 6.5/2= 3.25
18/2=9, 9/2=4.5
4.5/2= 2.25

A wedding cake.

If it isn't a party or celebration, it might be best to buy several smaller cakes.
