I think it all depends. If you've been in a relationship with someone for a long time and you know they'll be back, then it's ideal. Military wives do it all the time when their husbands go and fight. However, if you haven't known the person for very long, and have never even met. IE: Online love. Then screw that. There's no point in having a long distance relationship with someone you don't know REALLY well. Long distance relationships often fail because you two can't even be together that much, causing a series of emotions that aren't healthy. If you're in a long term relationship, make sure it's right for both of you and you're not just doing it because you can't let someone go.

They do work!! I have been in a long distence relationship with a man for a year now and we are getting ready to relocate to be together. The commitment to make it work, the trust and loyalty and then of course love all have to be present. I am not saying it wasn't hard but I know I will have a lot to look forward to in the end!!

It can work but its too much work. In addition it depends on how deep the foundation of your relationship is and how far you are willing to rework your life in order to accomodate it. I believe that lifestyle these days do not allow you that luxury and in addition being human, temptation is a daily battle. So I would say try it, give it your best shot and be honest with yourself and your partner regarding your needs.

If you're young, they almost never last. If you're older and separated by one of you being in the military, then there's more of a chance because of a more mature bond. But even then, it's hard. So if you're a teenager and your boy/girlfriend has moved away, cut your losses and enjoy yourself. There are way too many other young people out there to pine away over someone who's far away.

it depends.. did you meet in person? i mean.. is it like internet dating? or did you actually met? It can work out if you have trust if you are mature and you plan on see each other with some time... I have known people who had long distance relationships and now they're married.. it is possible.. it depends on you and your couple!

I used to, things were great for awhile (because he was 4 hrs away) but after being in one for almost 10 yrs I don't think so anymore. With gas prices going so high there are more excuses as to why we don't get to see each other as much.

I believe in them because, I was in one and it worked out. At times it was hard but we managed to stay together and now we're engaged.

It doesn't work. Let's face it, if you love each other, you should be there for each other, otherwise someone else will be.
