You might want to check out the book of JOHN. Pretty cool and very WOW! Its been easier for me to understand the Living Bible version.

The most/important part changes each day. I pray and tell God my hopes and fears about the day. Then when I read the portion for that day there will be 1 or 2 verses or sometimes just 2-3 words that warm my heart and give me hope and insight into something that I can not face on my own without God.

The Psalms (especially 139) and book of Philippians (especially 4:6-7) have been really important to my lifeview.

I have wanted to find time to go through all of it but been intimidated because there is so much of it. Now, I'm trying to get a little bit daily or almost daily from the One Year Bible. Each day there is a portion of Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs to go over. Somedays when I'm really busy all I read is just 2 sentences of the daily Proverbs.

The whole Bible is important. Jesus did not come to do away with the law but to fulfill it. The Old Testament is full to types and shadows of what was to come but the New Testament Reveals what was hidden in the Old Testament. The Bible is like a Giant web everything is linked. Not one thing is out of place therefore the whole Bible is important.

Every book of the New Testiment. It is also important to read about the blessing and curses in the Book of Deuteronomy, because it outlines universal blessing and curses that exist today and that helps us understand what's going around us. Then there's the Book of Proverbs that helps us build wisdom. I highly recommend that a person get involved in a good Bible teaching ministry and/or attend Bible Study meetings. In both, research is required because not all churches or study groups are good ones. Seek and you shall find is what Jesus said, and he is so right. The core of Christian theology can be found in Matthew 5, 6, & 7.

If you want a single book, then it would be _The Gospel of John_.

For a group of books, the priority/choice would be:
a) The Gospels; [Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.]
b) The Torah; [Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.]
c) Psalms.

The entire Bible, sequentially, would be:

The Gospels;

The Torah

Psalms (Psalms, Psalm 151)

Proverbs

General Epistles ( 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, James, Jude)

Wisdom books ( Job, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach )

Pauline Epistles (Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, 1 Thessalonians, Philemon.)

Major Prophets ( Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Baruch, Epistle Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Bel, Susanna, Song of the Three Young Men)

NT History (Acts)

Early OT History (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles. Prayer of Manassas)

Pauline Letters (3 Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Laodicians, Titus, Hebrews)

Minor Prophets (Hose, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggia, Malachi.)

NT Prophecy: (Revelations)

Late OT History ( 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, 3 Esdras, 4 Esdras, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, 3 Maccabees, 4 Maccabees.)

Other NT Writings ( 1 Clement, 2 Clement, 3 Clement, The Didache, 1 Book of the Covenant, 2 Book of the Covenant, Didascalia, 1 sinodus, 2 Sinodus, 3 Sinodus, 4 Sinodus)

Other OT writings (Book of Enoch, Book of Jubilees, ascension of Isaiah)

I think, if one does not have time to go through all of the Bible, that you should go through the "heart" of the Bible and that would be the book of John. John is the fourth Gospel in the New Testament as well as the fourth book - just so you can find it. It talks about the reason for the life of Jesus Christ - why he lived and why he died and how our belief in His death and resurrection is key to our eternal life and our abundance of life here. Just for the sake of proving a point to yourself, count how many times the word "believe" apprears in the New Testament book of John. I will pray for you that reading God's Word will lead you to truth and enhance your life.

No other verse in the Bible so summarizes God's relationship with humanity and the way of salvation. Some consider John 3:16 as the "theme verse" for the entire Bible. John 3:16 tells us of the love God has for us. John 3:16 tells us of the extent of God's love for us; so great that He sacrificed His only Son on our behalf. John 3:16 teaches us that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, God's Son, will be saved. John 3:16 gives us the glorious hope of eternal life in Heaven through the love of God and death of Jesus Christ.

I can think of no more powerful way to deliver this message than to let John 3:16 speak for itself.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Also Jesus' commands to us that we love God above all things and love our neighbor as ourselves.

And finally the great Comission

The Great Commission is given in Matthew chapter 28, verses 19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Jesus gave this Great Commission to the Apostles shortly before He ascended into Heaven. The Great Commission essentially gives what Jesus expected the Apostles, and those who followed them, to do
