I have researched this problem of anosmia and discovered that the irreversible nerve damage resulting from head trauma is the worst scenario however, I did not experience this trauma and now seek other causes and corrections. Anyone have any suggestions or possible other causes and Tx of this disorder. I desperately want to taste and smell again!

get a referral to see a neurologist and have the relevant cranial nerves tested. seems like they have been affected. Only your neurologist can answer your questions.

Well, do you have a cold? I just got over a very bad sinus cold where I lost my sense of smell and I couldn't taste anything as well. Another thing that could be wrong but you'd need your doctor to test first or even just by looking in your own mouth. Do you see white spots, if you do you could have a condition called Thrush. This condition can also cause you to lose your sense of taste. This would need to be treated with antibiotics.

stop smoking... you don't mention it, but is very common cause of this.

Coke never tasted so good as two weeks after I quit.

If not a smoker, not exposed to organic solvent inhalation recently, then I'd worry about a brain issue. Consider tumor or vascular malformation around the olfactory bulbs. Can be a tough diagnosis. Sorry if the "tumor" word scared you, it would be rare.

U should consult a specialist in this field of problem. If its a nerve problem, he should be able to help you and advise you what medication or supplements you should take. Try taking Neurobion, a high dosage of Vit B1,B6 and B12 which is specially good for nerve problem. Meanwhile, pray hard to GOD to lead you to a good specialist who will cure you miraculously since you mentioned you are having irreversible nerve damage. To GOD everything is possible, and I will also pray for you. May God Bless you, Amen.

Try to live on fruits, fruit juice and salad for few days and this will build appetite. After the appetite is modified, there are chances of your tasting food and smelling. Put almond oil in your nostrils daily.
