Is doing Community Service during high school beneficial for college admission? How good is it?

I am trying to find out the benefits that can be obtained from doing community service during high school, as when the hours of contribution are recorded in the students transcripts at the end of high school.

It is great for college admisson.There is alot of money out there just for college just for doing community service.I know two people who got $2,500 for college juist for being an official in key club.Juat make sure your hours are recorded.Go to thse sites for volunteer events:

If the community service were done through your school it would be considered extracurricular and would be listed. If community service is court ordered however it wouldn't be. If it is done through Scouts or church, or some other organization, it would be up to you to list those experiences on your applications. In any case you should keep your own journal regarding your hours and jobs just to make sure.

The more "stuff" you have for your college applications, the more "rounded" it will be and will show that you are active and involved.

Community service is ALWAYS beneficial, even it it isn't "recognized". It teaches you so many things you can't learn in school; teamwork, the value of helping others.
