I know when my father gets angry it's usually over stupid stuff. However, when he gets really mad I usually laugh because it's a nervous laughter. Maybe that's why. But I also have noticed that kids today do not have the same respect as I did growing up.

Laughter is a defense mechanism for fear. The child should not be afraid of their father, however, they should be taught how to react with respect. Older children may feel that their father is being rediculous with their anger but those children have probably been taught by their mother that undermining their father is acceptable because the mother undermined the fathers authority in front of the children.

I believe they are tormenting the Fathers. As a single parent I have dated other female single parents and their children would kick me and laugh about because they knew. I could do a thing about it and then laugh as the mother yelled at them because they knew she wouldn't do anything to them while I was there.

Well in all honesty it all has to do with why he is mad. If it is over a ridiculous reason than I can understand the laughter. Maybe they think the face he makes when he is angry is funny too.

I know that I'll giggle at inappropriate times out of nervousness or feeling uncomfortable. One time it happened while at the Holocaust Museum in DC! Which, of coarse, was not funny at all! I had to leave because it was so humiliating.

1) His anger was so out of bounds, it was ridiculous.
2) The kids were so scared that they give off a nervous laugh

Because grown men getting all mad does look kind of hilarious. When my dad gets really mad he looks like a little kid throwing a tantrum.
