Your choice between 1) renouncing Jesus, or 2) seeing your child thrown into a fire pit?

That's a tough one. Its difficult for anyone to comment on such a question. I can't renounce God. Therefore, my belief for Jesus is affirm and unbreakable. On the other hand, the psalm's importance is of least importance to most affirm believers of Jesus be it Catholics or Protestants. As a true believer, I'd say seeing my child being thrown into a fire pit if it were to become reality would mean disastrous, but I can still tolerate that. Probably, as an aethist, I'd say renouncing Jesus, but that isn't what your question said. But, still I could have selected the first option rather than the latter.

Well... Didn't Jesus say that it was okay to break the Sabbath in order to rescue an ox or a sheep? And isn't a person worth so much more ('worth many sparrows')? Might, then, it also be understandable to break this law in order to rescue a human being? If it were merely my own life that was at stake, it would be different, but how can I choose to execute someone else for what I believe? We should each be accountable for our own beliefs and actions, not each others'. Thus given only the two options you've presented, I think I would choose to renounce Jesus in word if never in spirit. Good question.

i would chose to see my child thrown into a fire pit because everything that happens is God's will and i trust God 100% I would never renounce the name of Jesus because of Matthew 10:33 and why deny what ur entire faith is based on ?

im just a good little christian sheeple and if god is wrong i dont wanna be right so i wont renounce jesus

the interesting thing about this is in the oldest copies of the new testement theres different wording here, stuff about angels and such denying the persons name or forgetting the name,

but ive always been taught that the king james version is the word of god so i guess those other versions are just satan trying to trick me

1) is symbolic and 2) causes suffering. What peaceful "god" would allow your child to be thrown into a fire pit? My obvious answer is 1.

As for me...I hope that such a situation will never arise in my life!! But If i am to face it..I would definitely choose the 2nd option.!! Or rather let me rephrase it as - "I pray that I might choose the 2nd option!! ."....because it's one thing to commit this answer from the comfort of my room.... But it's another thing to actually go through it in reality...

I don't want to be like Peter who said ..."I am ready to die with you" and ended up denying Jesus!

But the 2nd option is the right one....and I believe God will strengthen me to do it !! Though it's a horrible thing to go through, from eternity perspective thats the right one

As long as God knows that I do this with no faith in my heart, He will understand.

Besides, there is no reason to believe that once I renounce my faith that my child won't get tossed into the pit anyway.

What if you don't have kids? Does somebody else's kid get thrown in the fire pit? I have some candidates... if so.
