Better if made in a roasting pan in the oven.
2 lbs. Cubed Beef, one large cubed onion, one sprig of celery sliced, 8 - 10 fresh mushrooms sliced, one bag of frozen mixed vegetables, 1 small can crushed tomatoes, 1/2 cup of catsup, 6 - 8 beef bullion cubes, salt & pepper, add water to top of items and place in oven at 375 and bake for 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Add 1/4 flour mixed in water or red wine to stew and mix well into stew. Place back in oven until stock thickens.

Hi: You use a Bay Leaf, 2 or 3 cloves, 1 cup of red wine with a
cup of beef broth, lots of garlic (6 cloves), pepper, salt, a fresh
herb of your choice and chunks of stewing meat and any cut up
vegetables you wish. Use a slow cooker for 6-8 hours, or oven
at 325 degrees for 3-4 hours.
Drain the liquid into a large sauce pan and stir in a
mixture of 2 TBS of flour and enough water to make a smooth
gluey paste over medium heat. This thickens your gravey.
Stir gravey with meat and chow down!

Place your stew meat, carrots, onions, and potatoes in a crock pot. Pour on a can of Cream of Onion Soup (Campbell's, or any other creamed soup), and a package of dry onion soup mix. Add a can of water (from the soup can), and maybe some wine. Turn the slow cooker on, and let it cook for 8-10 hours. For my crock pot, I have a choice of two options, low and high, I choose high.

Onions, garlic, red wine, carrots, green beans, thyme, rosemary, parsley and of course beef. (sometimes I add a little bacon with the onions and garlic) I like to serve it with mashed potato, so I do not add potatoes to the stew.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
