People watching. Select a person you see in the street and see if you can impersonate them. Also give people you see situations and imagine how they will cope. I have a long list of tips. I'm an actor and have loads of tips. I think everyone can act given the chance and a few hints.

Everyone gets nervous so it's not a bad thing( well excpect or arrogent ******. Some of the best Actors/ Actress get stage fright. Nerves actually enhance your performance, they make your more responsive, quick and they also increase your concentration on stage-which is really important! so don't worry there! :-)
If you want to try and loose your nerves, I feel experience is the key, such as performing in front of many different people as possibe. The more performance will increase your conidence, but don't get big-headed! Nooo! hope this helps a bit.

It's natural to get nervous before a performance, everyone does, you need to learn to channel that energy into your performance.
A couple of things to help keep it under control:
Memorize your lines know them cold. A lot of people get nervous because they are trying to remember lines.
Reherse a lot with friends or family. Get into your character. While you are saying your lines try to think through them as if the character would. Just saying your lines comes off wooden. Thinking about what your saying and responding with the dialogue comes off real. This is called using subtext.
Try to ignore that the audience is there. When you make eye contact out into the room look a little above their heads or at their foreheads.
Hope that helps--with practice you have the ability to get better at any skill.

When you get on stage you are still seeing the audience, or imagining seeing the audience before even getting on stage therefore nerves build up
Wake up your imagination and block the audience out by seeing the surroundings you are acting. Become the part. It requires a lot of confidence to stand before others and pretend to be something you aren't but they are there to see the show and all in the show.
Stepping out of reality and into fantasyland should do it and with determination confidence grows-Goodluck!

Watch it. Go to plays, watch television (PBS might be a good start). Take some classes.
If all that fails, I'll introduce you to my daughter. She is the Queen of Drama!!!

Watch a few episodes of any movie on Lifetime, that should be enough drama to learn from.

Just focus on the script and not on yourself. Pretend you're leaving you somewhere else and you are now The Character (who is bold and confident). I sometimes used to pretend I was someone else when I had something difficult to do. Pick someone you admire and pretend to be them.

Stop worrying about how you come across to the audience. Figure out what the character wants and how they go about getting it, then JUST DO IT!
