How do I figure out what's causing my allergies? I get the sneezing, upper respiratory reactions. I have no idea what sets them off. I've been around the usual suspects, such as animal dander, dust, smoke, and pollen. Sometimes I get allergies around these things and sometimes not. And then there's days like today. I woke up and went through my normal routine and all the sudden the allergies appear. All the allergy medicines I've taken don't help me at all. Should I see a doctor?

It could be the pollen in the air or dust in your air filtering unit. I would recommend a thorough cleaning of your home..dust first, vacuum with a hepa filter bag, wash the animals inside and brush them; wash your linens in hot water and bleach. Get rid of anything that collects alot of dust, like certain fabrics in drapes or alot of clutter; rugs and carpet are great dust/mite collectors. Change your pillow for a new fiber one (no feathers/down) and stick with natural materials. Keep yourself well hydrated to keep any mucous thin so it will not trap bacteria. This is especially if you take any antihistimes, like Benedryl, as they dry out the sinuses. Hope this will help; although I would recommend you see a doctor to get a good allergy medication.

Yes - an allergist can test to see what it is that you are allergic to.
