Yesterday my 8 week old female shitzue was playing and acting like her normal fisty self and then just out of the blue she got REALLY sick. She wouldn't walk, or play she would just lay on the floor. I called her vet and he said that he wanted to to see her.

I took her in and they did a prvo test and she didn't have that. Did x-rays and it looked to be all that she had was a gastrol thing. So he gave her something like a Zantca shot and then an antibica. Her temp was 94 Deg when I got her the vet. He watched her for about 2 hours. We both saw that she was doing somewhat better . Her temp went up she was breathing better and was taking in water. The vet gave her Corn Syurp to see if it would help her pass the gas. Then we came home.
Last night she was doing better and was taking water riight out of the bowl. But when I got up to check on her this morn. she was not doing good. Then she gaged got sick something brown and then died. Any ideas.

She is with the vet now.

Still no word on the atopise. I got her from a lady who has Shitzues ever 6 months or so. All her pups have lived. My pups sister lives across the street and there is nothing wrong with her. We have a few ideas that it might be.
I just opened a new can of dog food (same as I have always given her) she ate once out of it. I am woundering if maybe it was bad. Also we have just found 2 dead birds in our yard. I will call and talk to the vet tommrow and let him know what we have come up with... hopefully by then he might know what happened.

I'm so sorry, that's just awful. I can only guess what could have happened, of course, and the fact that the vet isn't even sure makes it even more mysterious. But my first thought was that purebreed dogs tend to have so many genetic abnormalities and it may have been something to do with that. Or that she got into something poisonous if it looked gastrointestinal. I'm so sorry I can't be of more help, but I hope you'll get an answer -- are they doing an autopsy? Try not to be too upset, you obviously did all you could for her and if she was unhealthy to begin with then this probably couldn't have been avoided.

Sounds like parvo to me, all the signs are there. The vet should draw blood again, and also the brown stuff the pup threw up , is the corn syrup mixed with stomach fluids , no doubt. Parvo is number one silent killer, and pups die fast .Never buy a pup , unless you have a guarantee on parvo and hips ( if its a large breed) Do not if you are told it was indeed parvo bring another young pup around the house till the vet has told you how to make sure you gotten the virus out. It is very easy to spread from one pup to another.. So sorry to hear about your puppy. Its a hard thing to go threw, my thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your puppy. Did you buy the pup from a private breeder, a pet shop or a kennel? Did you check the family history of your pup? Sometimes there are issues with the breeder selling pups that aren't healthy enough. You might ask the vet what caused the puppy's death. If it was congenital then you need to speak with the breeder to amend the situation.

Im so sorry. Mabey, if you had dry food out she gaged on it. Her throat might have closed up. Im sorry, but, hold on. My dog scarlet, my German Shepherd had the same symtomps. We think she had parveo. The brown might have been food. OR, she might have some posion in her. When she was outside she might have picked up something. I really wish I could help you more.
Sorry

We had a cat that died of lukemia - it was very sudden, similar to the description you gave. I don't know if dogs can get that or not.
