If you want to be right about it the sabbath day is Saturday because Sunday is the first day of the week. I reckon Jews got the right day. The Commandments say you should preserve the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. Bu the Commandments also say that you should not kill/murder. If work has to be carried out on the sabbath day to prevent death then yes!!! They also say don't take the Lords name in vain so I reckon you are going to be getting a little bit singed soon. HA HA!!

Yours is not a question, but rather an attempt to knock Christianity. I am a Christian. If my job required it, I would work on Sunday. I don't "demand" a day off. Because Christianity is a part of the founding of our country and our society, Sunday and Saturday have been traditionally days off. Sometimes, some people, under some circumstances, may get paid extra for working on Sunday. It is not automatic. Obviously, we need some people to work on Sunday: emergency room doctors and nurses, firemen, police, airline pilots, air traffic controllers, power plant operators, water utility workers, and on and on and on.
If you want to complain about Christians, just come out with it.

Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
Matthew 12:9-12

On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."
The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?"
Luke 13:10-16

One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched. There in front of him was a man suffering from dropsy. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?" But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him away. Then he asked them, "If one of you has a son[a] or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull him out?" And they had nothing to say.
Luke 14:1-6

Are you mental, the fire service doesn't get paid double on the Sabbath, number one. And to have a day off in reflection and recognition of our God doesn't have to be on Sunday, number two. And lastly, its an emergency if you're calling the fire dept, so I think God would understand. Hello? 21st century calling!

Yes I would call out the fire service on the sabbath unless I was too busy being eaten by lions in an arena.

You should at least try to read the Bible, which is what we Christians live by, to understand the answer to your question. Like many of life's questions, the answers can be found in God's Word. I know you are too lazy to read it, all you want to dois bash Christians son I'll try to stoop to your mental level to answer your question. Jesus performed miracles on the Sabbath. If it is an emergency (you understand that don't you?) then yes a Christian would dial 911. Now go to church and learn something!

Don't judge all Christians by the ones on the wrong track. Christians on the right track are peace makers. After all the Sabbath was made for man, not the man made for the sabbath. Is it lawful do do evil or good on the sabbath.

Yep, but I follow the teachings of Jesus

"Jesus answered, 'If any of you has a sheep, and it falls into a ditch on the Sabbath day, you will help it out of the ditch. Surely a human being is more important than a sheep. So it is lawful to do good things on the Sabbath day.'"

If there was a fire, yes. Jesus healed people on the sabbath day - we know that it is okay to work on the sabbath day so long as it is the Lords' work, such as helping people.
