Most filters can reduce most pollutants. For something stronger, contact the experts: culligan, etc. Get a couple of recommendations. My wife had a problem with her well water before we were married (contaminated with something toxic due actions of a neighbor), and a house filter took care of it.
God Bless,

Since Chromium is an oxidant I suppose you can fight it by adding an anti-oxidant. Like introducing a base element to fight an acidic element. Trouble is as mush as a pollutant Chromium is so are the anti-oxidants. So your fighting a losing battle.

You could get a water softener, if you have the money, that might filter the Chromium out.

And kids this was simple High-School Chemistry. Not Rocket Science.

Uh - move! I really doubt you can reduce Chromium in the water. So:
Buy bottled water?
Get city water?
