they all teach good things...
it's just that people make mistakes and we tend to blame on the religion...
Christianity and Islam are branches of Judaism. The three shared the same history. God (English) = Allah (Arabic) = Yahweh / Jehovah (Jewish) - the difference is only in the language, but they all refer to the same God. All of them believe in the 10 commandments.Buddhism is more like a teaching to me. Buddha found an enlightment of life and taught others about it. Not sure about Hinduism... I feel like it is almost similar to paganism.

i do not see too much similarity.... Christianity and Judaism have the most in common. Islam condemns the other two, ordering their death. Allah is not jehovah, so the god is different. Buddhism is sort of a philosophical religion, which teaches some good values, but buddha is not jehovah god, but a different one. Hinduism is the least similar, since it departs from the one-god concept, and has hundreds of gods...

The similarity is that our God is the same and One!!
There is ONLY ONE GOD; ONLY ONE CREATOR; PEOPLE!!!! AND HE WILL BE THE ONE WE WILL ALL BE ACCOUNTING FOR OUR ACTIONS TO AFTER WE ARE DEAD...
To "ash_m_79": I am a Muslim. Please note that no one in our religion said that the other religions do not have a right to exist, or their followers. Actually it is you non-Muslims who keep attacking us! I do not go about badmouthing the Christians cause I do not know about Christianity, cause badmouthing is a bad thing in my religion and because God told us in the Qur´an that we should ALWAYS respect other religions.
Our Prophet Muhammad (saws) said that he would be against anyone who had taken action against a "protect" (people from other religions that live in a Muslim country and who has a right to profess!) in the Day of Judgment. Please give informed answers.

Respect for life, afterlife, and increasing the common good of man. Belief that there is more to mankind's experience, than just this material one time shot at life. It's sad however that most of the time all you see and hear is bickering and arguing at the same time they are trying to extol to the world how righteous they are......(this is a generalization, I confess). One day, when we all are a bit more mature, maybe we will all benefit from the shake down of the common points.

I think God meant what He said when He said that His law was writ on the hearts of men.
If so many culturally disparate, temporally removed and geographically distant peoples can come to a faith of their own so similar in basic moral and ethical values to others' faiths, well, I call that pretty good evidence that He did what He said He did.

I don't think that the Eastern religions are similar to the three 'desert religions' Eastern religions are more mystical, esoteric and philosophical and promote 'the god within'. The desert religions promote aggression, violence and conflict.
They use an external dictatorial god who manipulates his gullible followers through fear, ignorance(science is really the Devil) and false promises of an afterlife.

Love, peace and tolerence. Though I have a doubt on the tolerence part for Muslims and Jews. One thinks that a non muslim doesnt have a right to exist and the other thinks that they are special people, superior to others, God's chosen ones.

All religions teach the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The rest is window dressing to the principles of God.
