6 months or 6 years? If it's months, you have hope, if it's years - good luck. He thinks he owns the place - do some obedience training every day until you convince him he DOESN'T.

Have him neutered.
Keep him in a crate when you can't watch him.
Keep him on a leash in the house and correct him if he even THINKS about peeing on the furniture.

I'd also suggest reading some really good books on training. Try not to do it randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also! These are some of my favorites:
What All Good Dogs Should Know - Volhard
Good Owners, Great Dogs - Brian Kilcommins
Dog Tricks : Eighty-Eight Challenging Activities for Your Dog from World-Class Trainers by Haggerty and Benjamin
Don't Shoot the Dog - Pryor
Training Your Dog: The Step by Step Method - Volhard
Dog Problems - Benjamin
Cesar's Way - Cesar Millan

Also, watch the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Cesar Millan is the best trainer I've ever seen on TV.

Your puppy is on the whole seeking to mark out its territory. in case you blank the apartment plenty then the puppy could no longer recognize the smeel and could begin to mark it territory. If ikeeps doing it then positioned it on a lead and make it keep out part. In the morning right away whilst you get up then positioned it ouside and after everytime it eats , if it does move to the bathroom external then compliment it plenty. It will have to begin to have an understanding of the message.

Since the dog is 6 years old you may have to crate the dog while you are away or at night.

He might be marking territory, is he high-strung? Perhaps he is just using the same spots over and over because the odour has not been removed properly, and the odour acts as a 'trigger'.

thats a good thing ha don't crap in there! You should leave only a spot where there is no carpeting when you leave, and put a fence where the opening is where he can't get out.
