It means you have to let the one who sent you the invite know whether you are coming to the party or not.
I'm not quite sure of the right spelling, but it stands for Renpondrez s'il vous plait, please respond, in French.

This is so, the ones you sent out invitations to will call, write or email you to let you know they will be attending.
You will know how much food, drinks, gifts, etc to buy.
That away you don't over buy or under buy for the party.
Make sure you mail out the invites 4-6 wks in advance and ask they RSVP by a certain date. That will give you time to prepare for the party.

RSVP stands for Respondez s'il vous plait, or Respond Please, in French. Generally an RSVP has a due date by which people have to confirm their attendance at an event. Weddings are very specific in that regard for example so that an accurate count of guests can be measured for food, etc. Other events require this as well. It's a courtesy.

Its the abbreviation for a French expression. It means that the people who receive your invites must let you know whether they are going to attend your party. that in turn can help you because you'll know the exact number of guests you'll have so that you can arrange for food, etc accordingly. It is a French abbreviation which means in essence, please respond and let me know if you are coming. This way the event planners can know how much food and other items will need to be purchased. An immediate response from you, is always gratefully appreciated. Peace and God Bless.

It means "respond si vous plait" in french, which means "respond if you please" in english. It's a polite way of asking for a response back to the invitation.

How they can respond to you.
Generally you'd put a phone# or a mailing adress or something like that there.
