Taken as one big lump, life in general is rather depressing. However, there are moments of happiness and joy here and there. The key is to connect these small bits of goodness and string them together and keep your eye out for the next one. And don't just tie your happiness to emotional states. Look around you and observe how that particular cloud, limned by the setting sun is the most beautiful cloud you've seen today. Look down around your feet when you're outside and be amazed at how industrious this or that insect is. Notice that when you walk down the street, some people smile at you. Have you had an especially flavorful meal worthy of note? Is that glass of water you're drinking especially chilled?
What it comes down to is a decision to try and be happy and enjoy life. But if nothing you do can bring you out of your depression, go see a doctor. There's always that chance that a chemical imbalance or some other ailment could be causing your depression. I'm just leery of that because of modern medicine's urge to medicate everything, but even I know sometimes that's the only answer.

Depression can be onset by a number of things. One may be chemical imbalance...such as low functioning thyroid. Sometimes the symptoms are not obvious in the blood tests...I suffered from depression for over 20 years--and didn't find out until nine months ago. If you have suffered a lot of stress, post-traumatic stress, rapid weight gain, low grade fever, frequent 'landmark' events in your life, such as big let downs, family divorce, family deaths--I suggest that you go see someone to talk to, such as a therapist, and also talk to your family doctor. You don't have to relive the misery for twenty years like me. Take action soon, because long term depression can affect other systems in your body. Good luck, dear.

We can't really engaged in a talk here, however we can only offer advice. Can you make an appointment with a therapist? Your doctor? Until then, do you have a good friend, aunt, parents, anybody that can be a good listener to you? Write your feelings down in a journal, every negative thought, but counteract that thought with something positive.
Example: I feel as if my life is going nowhere-I know I am very intelligent, I am capable of finding something that I will be happy doing

No one can talk you out of your depression. You need to work out your depression for yourself HOWEVER a trained psychologist can help you view yourself and your life differently and assist you in pinpointing why you are depressed and making goals to change your life. No one is depressed for no reason. It is either because of hormonal problems, brain inbalances, life experiences, poor health and so on. You deserve to look after yourself, we all do, we only have one shot at life and life that has been filled with depression is meaningless and disconnects us from others. Make it your personal focus to work on yourself, your attitudes and your life and hey - all the best - I hope your life becomes brighter.
I really feel for you, I hope you can find some answers.

I'll try.
Depression is a normal human response to a stressful world. It's not your fault you are feeling depressed just take one day at a time. Try to remain focused & calm.
It will/should pass in time & you will know when to recognise the triggers in future & hopefully avoid them.
Don't give up on finding the light at the end of the Tunnel.

You really need to talk yourself out of your depression as you are just not being responsible for yourself.
Anyway life isn't all that bad, look I've lost everything at least 2 times and I just think that the world isn't going to end and I have to make an effort to do something about it.

Please be aware that SOME people on here have no real interest in 'helping' you and could actually make you worse.
Beware ESPECIALLY those who say they CAN help you! A professional would NEVER make that assumption without first knowing all the facts.
Again, if you truly feel hopelessly depressed, please bear in mind some people will offer their 'Services' for them to feel superior at your cost.
I suggest you speak to your local GP if you have one.
Best of luck.

Nobody can talk you out of a chemical imbalance in your brain. Schedule an appointment with a physician to obtain a drug to regulate the seratonin levels in your brain.
