I think Hughes would take this fight.
Kazushi Sakuraba is a great fighter and MMA legend, no question about that. He has beaten many excellent opponents such as Quinton Jackson, Kevin Randelman, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Vitor Belfort and so on. But over the years he has also competed (specially in PRIDE) against fighters a lot bigger then his size and taken horrible beatings and injuries against some of them. Silva really broke and injured him badly in all of their matches, Mirko also in their fight and in the match against Ricardo Arona he was literally almost killed. He was left laying on the canvas after the first round badly hurt, bloodied and beaten, with blood even coming from his ears and it was really a terrible sight. So those matches really left a huge impact on his body and ability to fight at his best.
And Matt Hughes is on the other hand in my opinion the best fighter in UFC history, a man at the peak of his career and on top of his game. His striking is good, wrestling and groundwork nothing less then incredible (the way he dominated Gracie was awesome) and he is by far physically strongest and most powerfull man in his weight class and I have no doubt that he would severely overpower Sakuraba even though he weighs a bit more.
So if the fight was 5 or 6 years ago I would maybe go with Kazushi, but now he has no chance of beating Hughes. So I pick Matt by TKO or a very convincing decision.

I think Ribafish has the best answer so far. I know both fighters, although I know more about Matt Hughes than I do about Sakuraba. I disagree that Matt Hughes is the best in UFC history though. He's definitely good but Frank Shamrock ranks as the best for me and although Royce lost to Hughes, that doesn't take away the fact that he was practically undefeated in the UFC prior to that fight and still ranks at the top. Anyhow, back to the question, I think Ribafish made some good points. However there is one point that hasn't been made. All of Sakuraba's losses have been by KO or TKO. The guy just doesn't seem to do well with proven strikers. Matt Hughes is not one who I consider to be a proven striker so I don't think it would be a walk in the park for him because both of them are good with grappling. However, Matt Hughes has strength on his side so I would give it to Hughes. Either way you look at it, it would be a good fight. In fact, I think if Matt Hughes fought in pride, regardless of the oponent, it would be good to see how well he does.

I don't know Kazushi Sakuraba, so I would say Matt Hughes. Another reason is that I know Hughes is such a strong, well rounded fighter.
