I've watched different documentararies on this. I'm Catholic and I don't really see a big deal why in some countries, they even had a thought of banning it from being shown. Why does it matter so much if Jesus was married. Isn't it really a matter of OUR OWN FAITH?

I have known this for a long time, before the Da Vinci Code, because I did some research on Christianity a while back. There is whole lot of things that Christians don't know about their religion, like the fact that proven segments of the Bible are locked away in Vatican City, also there are other segments that provide a completely different view of Jesus, and if these views were held today they would put an end to things like, the requirement of church, the requirement of baptism, the acceptance of Jesus as god, and yet they were thought to be part of the Bible. Also you must remember that the Bible has been translated many times and mis translation from ancient languages into old english is very problematic, especially when it's done by scribes in a medival kings court. You must take everything in the Bible with a grain of salt, the stories in it are probably as they were in the original language, but they are not word for word, and also remember that parts of the Bible are missing, do research on it before you decide what is true.

The book and the movie are both so off from what happened in history. Brown checked none of his supposed facts. The only thing he got right was that Saint Jose Maria Escriva started Opus Dei (which is mostly lay Catholics--no monks, esp bad looking killer albino ones :)) Well the Louvre is in France--so two things. This movie is an attack on the faith of ANY Christian. It is also an attack on God and true facts in history, so as a sign of respect for the Christian religion a lot of places in India and elsewhere have banned the movie. The reason that it matters if Jesus was married or not is that it is simply not true. His mission was not to start some line of kings that ruled with an iron fist--He was not a warrior savior. The bride of Christ is His Church(not just one person) whom he died for. He came to call us to repent for our sins and follow Him. So maybe if the Dan Brown's of the world can try to make Jesus less divine or not divine at all, then maybe they can feel better because they think no one will hold them accountable for their sins on the last day.

you're right...it is about an individual's own faith...the theory is pretty interesting though...all about revering women...the world would be a very different place today. In Fiji, the movie played for a week then the Methodist Church (!) staged a big protest in front of the cinemas, marched through the city and everything else. The cinemas stopped showing it after all that saying that they didn't intend to offend any religious denomination...bummer though, i didn't get to watch it because of exams--read the book though and must say i really enjoyed it...will wait for the DVD!!

It does matter because if Jesus was married he would not be the Son of God as he would not meet the prophesies regarding the messiah...therefore our sins would not be atoned for and we would all be judged for them and end up in hell.

Everything about Jesus was prophesied in the old testament, from the place he was born, to his descendants, to the way in which he would die. He was God wearing skin, was perfect and therefore in dying for our wrongs and coming back to life he defeated death for those who accept the sacrifice he made.

Read 'A Quest for Answers-The DaVinci Code' by Josh McDowell.

Ask God to reveal to you the truth and the importance of it. He will.

God Bless

Because if he was married, then the Bible was wrong or misleading. The Bible is the basis for every theological pillar of the last 2000 years and discrediting it would cause a theological revolution and could cause the church to collapse.

Yes, but most people aren't rational enough to come to this conclusion. Congrats tho on being open minded and realizing it all depends on your faith. There is a reason they call it faith, it's alot of **** thats hard to believe.

People will use anything to get their cause into open public debate in the media. (Rush and the gay teletubby debate comes to mind) Church attendance is up, and religion is being discussed as it has not been in years. It worked :)
