is believing in God enough??....or i still need to see a priest???

Question

when i was younger...a friend corupted me in practicing witchcraft. i thought it was fun....until i got stucked with a "visitor"...a voice in my head that i could not get rid off. wishing it away worked in the end...... and everything got back to normal.
Funny....by having this scary experiance, i got to pondering and asking questions....and found God. I am a christian and i strongly believe in God, but is that enough? some people told me that God already forgave me, and some told me that i should still go see a priest so he can read to me. What shall i do? pls help... :-|

Believing in God is very important But is it Enough?Let us read Mathew7:21-23 and see wether all worship is acceptable to God. Jesus said:"Not everyone saying to me Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day,'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons(wicked spirit creatures) in your name?'And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
Acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and believing, is essential in true worship. But something would be missing in the worship of many of those claiming to be Jesus' disciples.He said that some would perform"powerful works," such as supposed miraculous healings. However, they would fail to do what Jesus said is vital. They would not be doing the will of (his)Father." If we want to please God, we must learn what the will of the Father is and then do it.
Doing Gods will, requires an accurate knowledge of both Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ. Such knowledge leads to Everlasting Life. Surely, then, all of us will want to take seriously the matter of gaining accurate knowledge from God's Word, the Bible. Some say that there is no need for concern as long as we are sincere and zealous in our worship. Others claim, the less you know the less is expected of you.' Yet the Bible encourages us to increase in the knowledge of God and his purposes.(Ephesians4:13 Philipians1:19 Colossians1:9.
Such knowledge is a protection against contamination of our worship. The apostle Paul spoke of a certain spirit creature that pretends to be" an angel of light."(2Corinthians11:14) Thus disguised, this spirit creature-Satan- tries to mislead us into doing things contrary to God's will. Other spirit creatures associated with Satan have also been polluting people's worship,for Paul said:"The things which the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not God."(1Corinthians10:20)Likely, many have thought they were worshiping the right way although they were not doing what God wanted. They were being misled into unclean false worship.So Therefore it is veryimportant to get the truth from God's Word the Bible not mans opinions and ideas and to do more than just believe because the Bible says that the demons also believe and shudderbut does that make them acceptable to God?obviously not!So the thing you really want to do is first of all is to pray rto God for forgiveness and help in learning his acurate knowledge of his will and purposethen live according to them, you really do not need a priest to talk to GodYou can talk to God in prayer on your own in Jesus nameand if you pray with a humble heart to ask for his knowledge he will answer you, maybe not in the way you expect, but he will answer you because he is ready to forgive if you askand the past is the past but the most important is how we live todayso by looking to serve God his way you will be pleasing himand he will surely help youbecause he is not far away from us at all

Believing in God is best of all.
but once you have believed to God then you must know that why he has created you in a finest manner.
for example.
a nokia mobile phone is created in Nokia factory. after assembling mobile phone the creater or Nokia company gives a Mannual or Book with it with instructions on how to use this device or machine or mobile.
simillary when God created Human or you He then gave a Mannual to Human with instructions on how to lead your life. or how to live in this earth.
Now you have to read the Book or Holy Book which God has given to humans.
Now the humans has changed Holy books send by God. but there is one book which is still not changed since 14 hundred years, and it can be found in its origianl form. See your Bible (please its a fact and true) you cannot find similiar Bible which you holds in your hand with other bible present in other parts of the world. because every Bible is changed and the original is lost.
Now one can clam to God that what should i do now.
The answer is That only Book which is not changed yet is only and only Quran, the last Holy Book, a holy Book of God, Even there is a challenge By God in Quran to Humans or any living form that if you have a power to change a single word or dot from this Quran then go and try and you will find yourself as a failiar. If you are sincer finder of truth then just go through it and read its translation. It is in original arabic language and words. Its Arabic words are not changed from the day when it was given to Human Kind.
Therefor there is no need to go else where. Just read Quran with english translation yourself and you will find your answers. Because believing God is not enough you have to follow God sayings as well which are good for human kind.

Priests are robots. They are taught to do certain things and told they are mysteries. Some do good charible work though. God has forgiven you already All you need to do is ask, and from your question it seem you already have. If you want to cofess to a priest, there is some good in that for you as it is a form of therapy that makes you feel good about yourself by telling someone who works for god all the time what you did and you can do your penance. But how do you knowthw priest you are confessing to is not out there molesting children or raping women in his congragation ? Happens are the time.Go to god. lol-t

this "visitor" as you called it was your own conscience. As we were brought up it had been taught that witchcraft was black, bad and the work of the devil. Is it because it cannot be explained and the only thing it could be connected to is evil?

If you think it would make you feel better to see a priest, do see one, but you should also know that GOD does live within us!

do what maikes you feel comfortable. I was Lutheran then Pagan and back to Lutheran again and my scary expiernece was realizing I was worshiping another God and that was just wrong but if you feel you need a priest to annoint you with oil- do it. When I got back to church I felt like I had a burden on me, something bad, and my life seemed to be filled with such negativety that even praying didnt seem to make it go away, so i found myself at the altar on my knees praying and crying and asking God to forgive me, the priest anointed my forhead with oil and told me He laready forgave me and He never deserted me and whatever I am going through is in Gods hands now and I felt better instantly. But if you truly are sorry or whatever then you dont really need to see a prist. I felt like I wasnt forgiven and thats why my situation brought me to the altar but you know you may know you are saved. welcome back though :)

In my Opinion I would suggest Reading the Bible and developing your personal relationship with GOD. Read and meditate on HIS word day and night. This is what HE wants us to do. I too got into wicca and experienced the supernatural for myself. But remember the devil was stripped of power. Now you know that it is only GOD'S power used in wrong applications. The devil lead us all astray but the GOOD SHEPARD leaves the other 99 and seeks the ones that go astray. MAY GOD BLESS YOU. Eternity is far too long to be regretting anything.

To answer your question, I must tell you that I am a muslim. Being muslim and you as christian, we both be lieve in only one God. We know what God wants from us and what will happen after we die or after dooms day.
We all know our religious duties and know how to live in our society by following religion. Our religion tell us every thing. Most of the time, although we know, we forget to follow rules of religion and some times we come under Satans bad intentions. A priest (in christianity) or Imam (in Islam) always keep pushing us towards our religion. He keeps religion alive in our heart and always tell us what is wrong and what is right . Without him we cannot know ourself what is right and what is wrong.
So it is better to consult always with Priest or Imam.
Hopefully this practice will take you to heavens.
