the fundamental idea of the car hasn't changed since it was invented, motor, four wheels , transmission, drive train. cars have gone from simple and slow to fast and complicated. different parts of the car have had big developments like engines: from 1 and 2 cylinder to 4 then to 6 and 8 and some 12 cylinder engines. tires went from wagon wheels to leather and solid rubber to pneumatic(air filled). suspension went from solid axles and wagon springs to fully independant suspension.
