im a student and im moving to austin. i have money for apartment and stuff, but am considering getting a student loan. but i dont know anything about them, any advice? what kind of qualifications or what do i need to consider? i dont know much about loans. help, please.

You can have the crappiest credit in the world and will still be able to get a student loan. It's not tough. You don't have to pay them back until 6 months after you've stopped going to school. But they don't care if you've quit school or have graduated. After the 6 month "grace" period, you need to begin paying them back. If you don't, they'll nail you.

If you get the loan through your school, you probably do not have to have good credit or anything. If you go with a bank like Wachovia, you will need to have good credit and a job.

As far as paying them back, you do not have to start repaying until you are no longer going to school and the interest rates are very low on them.
