And with the given presence of evil in the minds of people, does that mean Satan is equivalent (if not stronger) than God himself?

My understanding of the god that most Christians believe in is that he or she is omnipotent and omnipresent. This means that he or she is all powerful and exists in all realms and everywhere. The catch is that he or she allows choice; although with the definition you have given, he or she could use force to eradicate all evil he or she doesn't. He or she allows individuals to choose between good or evil, and the only human who supposedly ever lived on earth that was all good was Jesus, the son of him or her.

God is not omnipresent he is omnipotent. Know God's way of doing things.
People may wonder why, if God exists, He doesn’t wave a magic wand and fix things, making or at least influencing everyone so that they do exactly what they ‘should’ do. But God never takes away anyone’s freedom of choice. God’s wisdom is to recognize and respect each soul’s individual identity, freedom and inherent goodness. God shares knowledge – a profound understanding of the dualities and dilemmas of love and hatred, happiness and sorrow, victory and defeat, etc. – but He does not make our choices for us. The soul is free to choose ‘to be or not to be’, ‘to love or not to love’. God’s love strengthens the soul’s will to free itself from the distresses caused by vices such as selfish desire, anger, fear, ego and attachment. God’s power helps the soul to recognize its highest potential and to aim for perfection by practising the art of simple living and high thinking. Such practice by a significant number of souls eventually brings about positive change in the whole of humanity.
When you learn to tune your mind in meditation to the mind of God, then whatever the situation, you always have a source of help and strength to draw upon – an infinite reservoir of power and virtues that is only a thought away

Lets apply a bit of logic to this question of yours. God is either in control of the world situation or he is not, assuming there is a god. 1, He is aware of the situation but chooses not to intervene.
2, He is aware of the situation but is unable to intervene.
3, He is not aware of the situation.
4, He is trying to intervene but he is blocked by Satan.
If any of the above is true, then he cannot be the all loving, all knowing and all powerful god that he alleges to be.
The only answer left is that there is no god.

Yeah HE is all of that. But when all of that Omnipotent and Omnipresent stuff(GOD ALMIGHTY HIMSELF) Creates a CREATION(EARTH and STAR SYSTEM) gives total RULE and REIGN of that System to a MAN (authority) then that man ADAM gives that authority(changes God's) to an Outlaw Dog Spirit(satan) to kill, steal and destroy, at the SAME TIME Spiritually locking the CREATOR out of HIS CREATION---------WHY DO YOU THINK THERE IS SO MUCH EVIL????? ----------So there-----------!!!!!!
IF GOD were to DESTROY ALL EVIL(Satan and his followers) for GOOD, every-body HE is trying to GET SAVED would be destroyed too!!! You are Spiritually connected to Satan(this is NOT DEMONIC POSSESSION) when you are Born on this EARTH, until you get SAVED, (Born-Again, change God's again back to JESUS!!!)

Firstly, lets start at the beginning....GOD GAVE US FREE WILL. After he let us go our own way, us and only us is responsible for the mess. Satan is alive and well and getting stronger, why? Because we have turned away from worshpping God and seem to be more interested in worshipping mobile phones, ipods and sex. No, Satan has no power over your soul which belongs to God. Satan only has power when you give it to him. Yes, there is a battle going on, however, God's love conquers Satan's lies.

Absolutely not...God does not strong arm us. He gave us free will. When we don't listen to Him, we must deal with the consequences. Satan wants to persuade, force, etc. The Lord wants us to want him freely. Happy Sabbath.

On a smaller scale, life is like a school. When the rules and assignments aren't followed...pupils fail. The teacher should not be blamed bc of a pupil's poor choice. God is the Master Teacher. There are rules and assignments bc He loves us and wants us to be safe. We freely choose something else. We fail. We should never ever blame Him.

Whether we like it or not, satan has had a lease on this
earth for 6000 years, as a result of the fall. But it all changed
2000 years ago at the Resurrection. The Church continues
to grow in Light, and the world gets darker. The redemption
of our bodies is at the door, faint not.

No satan is week. God is all powerfull. Nothing can provoke Gods will. You need to let your will go and give it to God and trust that he is in control. And stop worrying about evil, or evil people. Stop worrying how natural desasters happen and cancer and disease and focus on things of above and not on things of this world collosians 3-2

A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, & according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet & did not respond to the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the religious faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand & said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"

"Of course," replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"

The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, & heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460F) is the total absence of heat; & all matter becomes inert & incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied , "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors & study the various wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness & illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is?
You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct?
Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it
everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime & violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness & cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God.
God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness
that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

I don't have the knowledge to answer the question. You know just about as much as I do.

Your faith, and willingness to lead a good life, might in the end make all the difference in the war between good and evil.
