Okay, I have this friend that I only see at school and we chat at night. She is pretty chubby, and she had been absent to school for more than a month now. I am right now talking to her, and she just said that she is anorexic and that she will try suicide soon.

She says that she doesn't want to see a doctor, but I want to help her. How can I do this? Her parents don't even bother to ask her why she is not going to school, so her parents are not a option.

Would calling the police be too much?

Call the police and tell them the story. They have to go to her home, make sure u mention shes intending to harm herself. They have to come out. If she is under 18 call Child protection Service and she can be removed from home. Or if u are able to kidnap her and take her to the ER. (use to work in one and u would be surprise how many are brought in for suicidal tenancies) They have to treat her. They can not refuse to take her in. And ask UR parents for help. U might be surprise what ur parents could do for as well. (well I hope they are like my parents willing to step in for a ur friends)

Well, I wouldn't call the police right away, because one, they don't take action that fast on your word of "someone saying" they want to kill themselves, believe me I know! Second I would go straight to her house, **** the phone.

Third, if she is "chubby" she would not want you of all people to throw that in her face. Get her motivated to change what she does not like about herself into something good. She problably does not go to school because people pick on her, or her weight. We live in a society of people who are cruel, that skinny is better, that having more than another is being popular.

Who gives a damn what you look like as long as you carry yourself well. I have the same issues and been there, done that, tried that, to be thin, to have more money, but if your not doing it the right way, your not doing it at all.

I am 30 I have 4 kids and now I take my 13 year old daughter with me running (sometimes) we ain't motivated everyday!. Every woman in my family is obese, it is hereditary, but does that mean I should use that as an excuse and get fat, hell no, Im too scared of that. But we can't stoop to the levels that other folks are at and beat ourselves up because of what other folks say. As long as you got a good personality, you are willing to make a change on your own and keep it positive, then you can be what you want to be in life. Tell your friend to read this. She needs laughter, not humility. (it's a phrase). Yeah I made it up. One. Out. Respect.

The police? A guidance counselor or therapist is what you need for that girl. Don't give her a choice--have the person visit her. You should come, too, to comfort her. I have an anorexic friend. I told a teacher about it, and she promised to do something. (School's out and she hasn't done anything.....but that's just one teacher.) If not a counselor, a teacher, adult relative, or anyone--but you really should talk to her parents as well--they will want to know.

Not only is this anorexia, it might be depression (the suicide thing). Read up about it here.

You have to do what is best for your friend. Is it life or death? You already know the answer. I will not elaborate because I am not a psychiatrist. You are a true and sincere friend. I would feel out her parents as to their take on this extremely serious matter. I would talk to your friend. If the situation can be resolved this way, this is great. If not, then speak with your parents. In any event, please don't give up on her. Read Psalm 35 to (Plead My Cause) and ask God for help in this matter and any that are unknown to you. Read Psalm 4 for (Safety and Protection) against unknown occurrences. Most of all, you must know that "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31 Peace and God Bless.

You really need professional help here. You're right, this is an emergency. I reccomend going to the school counselor, or a teacher you trust. They can get the ball rolling for your friend to get help, and can probably do it in a way that won't involve the police. What ever you do, act right away!

YES, call the police, the police will go by her house and help her right away, also by calling the police your friend will know that you really do care for her and that will make her feel better inside, don,t worry about her getting mad at you because its better that she lives and gets mad at you then if she dies and you feel the guilt for the rest of your life, you will think that you should have tried harder to help her. to be honest with you, you don't need that kind of friend that is going to put you through that, if you help her this one time and she keeps it up, just stop being her friend.i hope that she sees how good of friend you are and stops putting you through this, there is lots of help out there, just have her call those numbers up above.

Wow!Well you should try talking to her about what she should do.
Like contact the hospital even though she doesn't want to,tell her that she needs to think of what's the best for herself. Please don't let her commit suicide. She probably doesn't want to commit suicide but she probably thinks there are no other options.Well there are.Tell her she really needs to either try to get a doctor that could help or get a counselor.I hope this really helps.

She has probably been devastated personally. Her family may be responsible for whatever happened to her. The Department of Human Services or Children's Services need to be notified by someone close enough (yes, I do mean you.) to give some details as to her behavior. Her life may depend upon your doing the awkward task of reporting to authorities whose work it is to prevent suicides that happen due to dysfunctional family involvement. See the source below for further information about helping someone to regain their self dignity and self respect after difficult situations have occurred.

Not having contact with other people is a very strong indice that she is not well enough to integrate and involve herself in otherwise 'expected of her' activities.

Get over whatever hesitancy you feel about your inadequacy or lack of responsibility to act in her best interest. Evidently, her family is unaware or doesn't acknowledge their fiduciary responsiblity toward her. That is the what to report...her families lack of fiduciary (fee due she airy) responsibility.

Bless you, too.

Tell her that you care about her and that she is a special person and that you would like to come over and talk to her. Try to build up her self esteem - heck go and see if she would like to go and do something together. Take her flowers from a friend - you - make her feel special! Sometimes people need to be told that they are special and that you care about them. Hope this helps you. Send her a card - make a home made card and write some nice things to her.
