Of course it depends on what you are detoxing from.
Most controlled substances will require medical help, friends and family can help too. I don't know your situation, but even if you are embarrassed to ask for help from people who can help you, you will be more successful if you "embarrass" yourself than if you go on and try to do it on your own. Also read health \/
If you are refering to eating unheathy foods: fresh veg, steamed veg, lots of fruit and water will do far more for you than anything else toward healthy living. Exercise is good but be very careful not to over do it when you start (people over 40 might want to get a physical and speak with a doctor before starting)
I would advise against TV for someone changing their lifestyle. Once you acclimate to the new you, if you must introduce it gradually, and try to rent your favorite show on dvd, rather than watch hours of unhealthy food commercials
Good luck on the new you

A good body and blood b=cleaner is goldenseal and ginseng. Add some yarrow and dandelion, and you have a detoxifier for the general tissures and blood in your body. If you wish to detox by elimination then use red clover herb or or chaparral.
