i wish to find a few different restaurants to take my friends to. if the food is great and has an appropriate atmosphere (which should be great as well), i would love to know about it. now, as there is a plethora of mexican restaurants, i do not wish to hear any of those. also, i do mean restaurants, not fast food - cafés would be fine.

well there's the
*Havana Cafe'(cuban very good, expensive)
*Baci (italian, nice inside outside looks old, food is to die for, and the plates are huge!)
*Melting Pot (fondue, great food, some what expensive, better to go for a delicous dessert rather than dinner)
*The Cheesecake factory (modern american, the best cheesecake aside to NY)
*Buca Di Pepo (italian again, huge plates very good, awsome decor)
email me @ yankeeluvr92@yahoo.com if want locations, or more info

I totally agree with you there is a plethora of mexican restaurants here now.

If you are thinking about a sandwhich place I would highly suggest Sacks Sandwitchery. It is off of Mill Ave in Tempe. There are two locations off of Mill. SE Corner of Mill & University and the other is on Mill and....geez my mind just went blank. I'm sorry.

Of course there is always Applebees with Happy Hour!! 3-7 & 10-close. Appetizers are half off as well as drinks. They have a few locations in Mesa...
>Higley & Brown
>Power & Southern
>Alma School & Baseline
>Gilbert & Baseline

If you want a stake house then Charelstons I have been told is a good place. Stapley & Baseline
And Black Angus is a nice stakehouse.
Alma School & Southern
Power & 60 (Hampton)

If you want Italian besides Olive Garden there is Carrabbas. A little pricey but delicious... Superstition Springs Blvd & Clearview...(By Harkins 25)
Which that is right next to Outback Stake House.

I hope I have given you some ideas of where to eat.

Oh!!! One more would be The Landmark off of Extention & Main.

Need anymore ideas just let me know. ;)

I can recommend three places. One for steak, one for Tex-Mex and one for fast food (but trust me, this fast food is an experience).

Steak: Monte's (Tempe) One of the best steaks in America and atmosphere up the wazoo
Tex-Mex: Z Tejas (Tempe) My favorite restaurant, hands down (try the Chili Relleno dishes)
Burger Experience: In-n-Out Burger (multiple locations) Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh and the food is AWESOME. Worth going even if it is fast food.

Have fun restaurant exploring.

I don't know mesa very well, i am in Phoenix, but go to City Search and you can get a whole list of whatever food you want. Then go to www.maricopa.gov and check out their rating to see if they have had any problems with cleanliness, etc...good luck!
